what's an 11 here?

FRONT HALL closet. It is easily accessible. Hall closet = we leave it cuz we don’t know if we are risking death to get it. Typewriter we leave it cuz lol typewriter. But it’s not just our grandfathers typewriter, it’s his vintage typewriter. Sentimental value, and relatively easily accessible, why would we not take it?

The television?

We have clearly held on to this typewriter for sentimental purposes. Typewriters by themselves are obsolete/have no value but we have kept it this long because it matters to us. It’s not next to the front door but it’s in the front hall closet. Idk I think this is like 14-15 maybe.

Higher end we have your child, a pet, things extremely valuable etc. I guess it’s possible he thinks that since the base is typewriter it’s low but I doubt that. Lower end you have things that are valueless, or easily replaceable. If we leave our grandfathers vintage typewriter we will never get it back or replace it. It feels like this must be over 11. I think it can be 14ish

my television is ten years old and has way too many wires to disconnect

I think television may be quite low since it is replaceable (and maybe heavy). Something irreplaceable is what you should take even over something that has more utility or is more expensive imo.

Side note: my house burned down when I was 10 and my mom was more tilted about losing the family photo book that had all the pictures of my sister and me growing up than anything else, even the house/furniture which was worth a lot more lol. This was before iPhones and iCloud obviously

Modifiers to get us up it’s still low I guess. The typewriter is the subject of the clue. I feel like we are supposed to assume sentimental value but maybe that’s too far. He coulda said “prized typewriter” or something. Maybe I’m looking at this wrong. Gonna stop posting for a while and read y’all’s thoughts and think haha

so I think an 11 is something you'd grab if you ran right past it but wouldn't ever bother to divert for, you're ambivalent to taking it or leaving it

typewriter that's already specified to be hidden away in a closet is definitely lower than that.

I'm firmly on the "save it" side of this spectrum. This is never lower than 11.

I get where you’re coming from bloo but I think it would be weird if “your headphones” was 11 and this was lower than 11.

You’re thinking about the scale as convenience and it doesn’t change anything (with respect to 11). I am thinking of it as importance over replacement level. Like TV might be heavy, increases your chance of dying, and you can easily get a new tv. I would think something I would want to grab would have low/no replacement level or inconvenience factor (your phone, your computer might be up there, especially with some modifiers).

I’m on team bolt on this one personally, I may even be a little higher than he is. It being in a closet brings it down but it’s still our grandfathers vintage typewriter (which I am assuming we held onto for sentimental value and cannot he replaced luv anything else), and it’s the front hall closet. I mean if it was just at the front door we would probably always grab it lol.

I could be a wrong though, wouldn’t be the first time. I understand the bloo argument but I think this being lower than headphones or tv would be a weird level

Between eb, bolt, ak, and me I think our average is exactly 14. Bloo thinks under 11. Bloo do you think we should average it, or go lower (like 13), or do you think you’re on a different wavelength here so we shouldn’t average. If not then do you have an opinion on 13 or 14?

Tbf closet makes it lower than front hall, but front hall closet makes it higher than closet lol. So there was one part of the modifiers that pushes it lower, but if he didn’t say it then it would really scream take me and he was probably worried that would make us go too high.

Also typewriter to begin with as opposed to a bunch of other stuff is kinda low to start with. Kinda having second thoughts now, maybe bloo is on the right level, idk.

I think he may have chosen typewriter because of how obsolete it is. So it’s not that important functionally but it is obsolete. Vintage to really drive that home

The in the closet thing goes both ways, I guess. It is close, but if it is that important why not display it.

18 expensive and specific jewelry original paintings (keeping in mind things are insured)

Below this I am thinking sentimental value and irreplaceable things must be high. I don't care about my 100 inch TV (i don't have one..lol)- insurance will cover that, and my $5000 telescope.

But insurance cant replace that vintage typewriter... and even if they found one, it would not be the one his grandfather owned.

obsolete makes it more valuable imo. Wooden hockey sticks are pretty much obsolete. I wish I had a half dozen for my man cave.

I'm coming around to going higher. 15 is a good guess.

I think watch is about the same or maybe lower? watch < vintage typewriter? But I see why one could think the opposite. It’s probably similar.

If 14 is your highest and 14 is my lowest and bolt is around 14 and ak is 15-16 and bloo is under 11 I think our best team guess is 14 if bloo is ok with that. Not because his opinion doesn’t matter but just that averaging doesn’t work when there are different levels (trust me, usually I’m the island of 1 so I understand haha).

We should let bloo weigh in though, maybe he can argue us down or maybe he strongly prefers 13.
