Walrus Sign Ups - Puzzles and Other Games Forum

Because Trolololapalooza's are longer running reveals and at the moment there are a bunch of people waiting to run one, it might be easier to keep track with a single sign up thread.

Submissions can really happen anytime, but it'd be nice to space out reveals for those of us that like to try to listen to all the music... Maybe a reveal starting every 2-3 weeks or so.

Sign up's should be based on your intended reveal start date and you can ask for submissions starting anytime before that.

The slightly modified rules as coopted from Loosekanen:

The Rules:

So, the idea of the game is really simple. The OP will post a bunch of categories. You PM the OP a list that has one song that fulfills each category (as you would in a sheep, except that the point isn't to guess the most popular answer.) When enough PMs have been received, the OP will rank the suggested answers from best to worst, in their personal opinion. Scoring is simple, say there are 10 players, the best answer gets 10 points, the worst one gets 1. If an answer given isn't actually a song that fits the category, the OP can choose whether they will request resubmissions. If none is given, the player will get a 0. Research is allowed. The OP reserves the right to give completely arbitrary negative scores for absolutely awful answers.

All submissions should include a link to a video or audio file available on the internet in order to make it easier on the OP and to share during reveal for the additional players to scorn or praise as they see fit.

you are making no sense to me... it's not quite a game, but it is something that people try to space out so we aren't walking over other peoples. If this isn't appropriate to have a sign-up for them since as I said they are longer running threads, the mods can feel free to lock this up or delete the thread.

I don't think it's necessary to schedule them (seems like a more-the-merrier kind of thing) but if multiple people have said they want to run one before me then fair enough.

If no one has claimed a spot ahead of me within 48 hours I'll post my sign up, to be revealed from 27th December-ish onwards depending on interest.

Realistically, entering doesn't take too long, and revealing can take a week (or even 2, see my reveal) if done properly. There's no reason there couldn't be a couple thrown up per week if there were enough willing mods. Which it seems there are, for now at least.

I also don't think entries need to be open for anything more than a week.

i mean, I think it's not like we're those horrid sheep people - for us i think anyone can run something whenever they want. But just probably we'll all be too 'reticent' to fight about opened sign-ups.

At the end of all time, just before the Wyrm turns on the gods ima run one of these to encourage non-YMO tracks from non-Engrish-spakers. Estonian will be allowed

If you're really allowing me to go next instead of playing who's the sneakiest to throw up a signup thread, that's great. I was waiting for mexi to reveal his but I guess there is no reason for me to wait.

Given the late trends I will hardcap the entries at like 12 people since I'd hate to reveal this for like a week and start hating myself that I took this commitment upon myself. Signup thread will be up before like monday.

If it helps it's 10pm on a Friday Night and, having just finished enrolling for next semester, my plan for the night involves drinking a few beers, working on a mishmash and possibly watching some dragon ball z :P

Also, Akson does have a point, the name sucks and this is about the last time it can be changed. My argument is that people spell it differently so the threads aren't easily searchable. I understand that a lot of the names of games in POG are taken from various animals but I am unsure where Goat comes from and how it relates to music? Also searching for Goat will have similar problems since it's a commonly used acronym nowadays.

Everyone brainstorm about animals used in popular songs/band names. I can propose The Walrus.

This is actually a good point. I've tried to search games a few times and I never know how many lolols to type. The only way to find them is to goole "Mexineil reveal" or something like that. Or hope that Noah GOAT updates the archive.

Honestly the only reason I've never supported the idea is because akson seemed so pissy about it and it was fun to watch. His argument is that it makes sense because we're looking to submit the GOAT music, kind of.

Anyway, I'm in support of a name change.
