Walrus (Non Pogcathlon) Walrus (Non Pogcathlon)

This will be played exactly the same way as JMurder's Pogcathlon Walrus, which is now coming to an end.

Here's JMurder's intro, stolen word-for-word (except for the part near the end, which I'll mark in blue/red...)

As you may know, I am running a "Pogcathlon" where players can play as many different competitions as they want & earn points for their success in each one.

Walrus is a game wherein you select music, & other people judge your music. Standard Walrus usually has 1 host who selects all the categories, & a bunch of people submit songs & the host judges all the songs in each category.

This is going to be a different format wherein each player judges 1 category, & there is no main host. This is mostly inspired by Nick Royale's 2016 Walrus (& I was also reminded of this by the Grab Bag Draft format).

Here is the Sign-up Thread for Nick's draft, & the Reveal Thread.

All songs will be submitted to me, then I will reformat & send them out anonymously to the category judges. The category judges will rank the songs form best to worst (doing as much or as little of a write-up as they feel like), & I will reveal them in a reveal thread.

Bolt's Edit: I'll need one volunteer to receive the songs from my own category, so that I can play as well. I'll handle the rest of the categories.

This means each entrant will need to send two different PM's with their song choices. One PM will be to me, listing their song choices for everyone's category except for mine. And another PM to the volunteer with their song choice for my category. Yeah, it's a little more complicated, but I want to play!!!

So yeah, if you want to play, in here, & select a category. Depending on interest, this will be 1 or more parallel games (don't want to make people submit/judge too many songs).

Sign up will end in 1 week or whenever we get to 20 entrants. Whichever comes first.

I'd indicated in the last thread that I was doing Christmas/Hanukkah music, but we'll be in January by the time the reveals come around. I'm changing mine to...

"Best crowd interaction during a live performance."

I won’t play, I’m going away for the last two weeks in January and won’t have time to devote to this. But I will volunteer to receive bolt’s songs.

If you're able to do this that would be great. Are you sure you'll have the time for this?

In, songs for my 5 y/o.

He likes some kids songs, pop, things he can dance to, trap music etc.

He does not like songs about death.

Cool idea. My gut feeling is you may get more duplication.

And in.

I will keep my selection from the previous thread, but I will amend it to:

Songs released after 2000, by a band that has not had a top 40 hit.

Can you define "top 40 hit" for us?

Let's say any of these Billboard charts: R&B/Hip-hop, Adult/Pop, Country, Rock, Dance, Latin, Christian, and Jazz.

If the artist has not been in the top 40 of any of those, then the song is eligible.

I've taken some knocks over my fuddy-duddy ways, so I want a fresh song by an artist I am unlikely to have heard before.

"Songs with that one line" - A lot of songs I enjoy end up being songs where I gravitate towards a single lyric or phrase, and just wait in anticipation of that line. I might even skip the rest of the song after that lyric. Can provide examples and genre preferences.

I can be a phrase or a few lines, not just one line? A song with big buildup to just a few lines of singing?

Should we identify the line for you or trust you to figure it out on your own?
