At level zero this song is about an airline voyage, and at level 0.5 it's about getting into heaven. This song is about traveling. It's about hope. It’s about the possibility of finding peace and redemption. I’m not a religious person, but I appreciate the sentiment.
You want a song like this on your road trip playlist. It’s got a beat made for tapping on a steering wheel. Listening to this song, I picture myself on a sunny day traveling through the American Midwest. Blue skies and flat farmland stretch as far as the eye can see. This song fades in, and I can’t help but smile and step on the accelerator.
This song makes me want to go somewhere.
And here's the write-up for Take Me Home, Country Roads:
The road is calling you, to where? To the place, the place where you belong. This song is a staple for any mainland USA road trip, guaranteed to get the whole car harmonizing and bopping along. You've been travelling for awhile, now it's time to go home. This is a road trip song for people who take the backroads, for people who prefer the frontage road to the highway. Light-hearted, heavy, and warm. This is a song sure to uplift the spirit when you're cruising along.
This probably isn't a great pick for trying to win this category, but I have fond memories of a trip across Utah with the album 'Plans' by Death Cab for Cutie on auto-repeat for the better part of 6 hours.
I did this category for a walrus once. I can't remember what won, but suqata came second with one of the hour long Flight Facilities decade mixes, which then was indeed what I put on when roadtripping from Vegas to Zion with my dad two years later, so I think suq was the true winner.
I have loved the second song for years, and disliked the first song for minutes. People shouldn't try to sound like Bob Dylan, while singing a less melodic song than Dylan usually sings.
I've heard Country Roads before of course and think it's a tad overplayed but listening to it and imagining everyone in the car singing along seemed like a lot of fun. The middle part of the write-up was a tad confusing - am I embarking on a road trip or is it done and I'm going home? Regardless very solid choice.
Hadn't heard Airplane to Heaven before and enjoyed it as well! I've driven from Ohio to the West Coast(Rosarito, LA, Vegas) several times and back by myself so this would be a perfect fit cruising through the midwest.
Very close one but went with Airline mainly cause I hadn't heard it before and next time I do, I'll be a-tappin on the steerin wheel
bolt I really liked your song! In addition to being a fan of 'hours on repeat', I'm also a fan of the radio - somehow the song is better to me when it pops up spontaneously than when you select it yourself
one of my all-time road trip favorites that has often graced the air early in my journey is
For about 20 years - I thought it was Free Ballin' rather than Free Fallin' and well...I've known for a few years now but I'm still singin about Free Ballin' to this day
