Ry Cooder was good but I wasn't expecting it to win going against a band I like singing a traditional that I like. However, "At The Dark End Of The Street" had a better guitar solo, AND I have heard much better versions of "Whiskey In The Jar". Winner this round is "At The Dark End Of The Street" .

Feel the same way, though I think I'm a little more negative about both entries.

feel free to share or pm me the better versions, would legit like to hear them
The vocals on At the Dark End of the Street are legit. Would’ve been a better song without the three minutes of slide wankery. Whiskey in the Jar(o) might legitimately be the second most boring song I’ve ever heard.
i'm fine losing, but feel the field's definition of solo is a bit too abstract
if you google "whisky in the jar solo" there's literally hundreds of websites talking about it, dozens of videos teaching it, even interviews with the thin lizzy guitarist specifically about the famous solo
i'm a bit flummoxed you guys don't consider a classic song known for its iconic guitar solo one that qualifies as a song with a guitar solo
