I like this one, timed forces you to do the weirdest stuff.

Re: Triplechain

Your starting positions are pretty bad. I recommend to look at dynasty's strat post that is linked in the OP, read all of that and then try to get his starting spots. Post #33 itt is also very good, but I've experienced more success after switching from snake charmer strat to dynasty's flexible strat. Forgot to mention that post #33 also discusses dynasty's strat, you should probably read all of that as well.

Re: Triplechain

It's awesome to see all the new players - so much more fun with lots of action, especially in timed mode.

I've kept track of all bugs and feature requests that people have sent me, but the list is so long that it's sometimes tough to decide where to spend what little free time I have for programming. I figured I'd throw out a few of the top candidates to see what you guys would like to see:

1. Fix timed mode bugs (rack jumping to previous state, dice disappearing, other weirdness)

2. Find/fix the bug that let someone play the daily challenge in advanced mode.

3. Paging for all score lists so you can look at more than the top 10/20 in any category

4. 1-click login. Use your facebook/google/twitter account to login. Will be able to link to your existing account.

5. Facebook integration: challenge a friend, show off your daily challenge winning board, etc

6. Links to individual boards (pretty much done)

7. Improve the look of the page/board. I'm bad at this, but I know it needs to be done..

8. Tournament (monthly maybe?)

What sounds good? What don't you care about? Right now my inclination is to follow this general order: fix bugs -> clean up the existing game -> make it easier for new players to find/learn -> add new features

Thoughts?

Doing timed right now, but not very good if anyone wants to play.

Re: Triplechain

Timed seems way more fun.. the regular game seemed to get boring fast as there's no real reason to mess with creative solutions.. I like how you have to be forced into tough decisions.

Of these, I'd personally say:

Stuff I care about a lot: 1, 2, 6.
Stuff that would be awesome: 3, 8
Stuff that I don't care much about but if you do go for it: 7
Stuff that I don't need at all: 4, 5.

Ok that is a rough board, because you got 4 2s in the first 4 racks, and you got no less than 9 in the last 5.

I see that you placed your 4 initial 2s all in the bottom of the zones. That is decent, but you know that 2 2s in the 9th roll are going to kill your bonus. I think it is slightly better to place 2 initial 2s in the bottom of the zone and 2 2s in the same zone on opposite sides, so you can make two pair in one zone and keep one zone free from 2s (apart from the center zone which should also be free of 2s).

I donīt know in what order you got the first 4 racks, but the config you made out of it is not optimal.

You really should read the Dynasty post, which is linked in my OP and after that feel free to read the post I made somewhere on p1 of this thread. That will help you out a lot in your strat.

1. Critical. It has screwed me up more than once.

2. minor/major. If you want to cheat at the daily challenge, nobody can stop you.

3. Donīt care

4. Donīt care

5. Donīt care

6. OK

7. Donīt care

8. Would be cool. I was thinking of a format in which X players sign up, they are ranked according to their timed rating. Pairings are based on timed ranking, like they do in tennis. Opponents in each HU match agree on a time to play and they have 24-48 h to submit the result of their best of X, starting with best-of-5 or something. X will increase when we get closer to the finals. This is a flexible setup and doesnīt require you to play a certain time, which not everybody can. You can mod from a 2+2 thread, for example. Thatīs where most players come from anyway.

Not included: replayer. How the hell did X made THAT score in the daily challenge?

I was originally planning on getting it all set up through the site (register, display brackets, track games), but the format you suggested should work for a first run.

See the front page for more details :-) Good luck everyone.

I think timed bug fixing should be the first thing to be done. I've experienced that opening a 2nd triplechain tab while playing timed (to check the leaderboard or personal stats for example) results in a weird bug when the 2nd tab is fully loaded that causes your game to be reset and you seem to restart with random numbers. Your score will show 0 and when the time is over your game is counted as DNF.

Re: Triplechain

Nice score Donk, you got 7 2s in the first 4 racks and only ONE in the last 5 racks. Rigged.
Do you use the convert 3==> 2 option for advanced?

Today I played my challenge pretty friggin good. I took screenshots after every rack, I will post them tomorrow with my thought process. I think that will be interesting.

Re: Triplechain

I use the 3-6, 3-5 and the re-roll rack, which is probably not worth it but I hate rigged rands.
