Monthly Race
  • Derwi ran away with the March DC race, though it was closer than the final scores indicated. For much of the month, it was a four-way battle at the top between Derwi, wafflesobv, SmalltownBoy, and nails. However, Derwi posted three wins in the final six days of the month to pull away from the pack. Derwi led the field in wins (5) and top-5 scores (14). It was Derwi’s sixth monthly DC win, tied for seventh-most overall.
  • wafflesobv finished second in March, posting 11 top-4 scores (tied for second-most behind Derwi). All 15 of his top-10 scores were seventh place or better. waffles has finished in the top 10 in 14 out of the past 17 monthly DC races.
  • Dynasty, SmalltownBoy, and arjun13 rounded out the top five, separated by just 12 points. Dynasty rolled up the leaderboard late in the month thanks to three wins and two other top-10 scores in the last six days. StB had only one win but was consistently in the top 10 throughout the month, with 11 top-5 scores and at least one finish in each of the top 10 places. As with Dynasty, arjun’s fifth-place finish resulted from some late-month heroics, including one win and five other top-10 scores in the final nine days of the month.
  • Among the rest of the top 10, mrgibson (sixth place) had 11 top-4 scores and only one other top-10 finish (10th); SubArcticK (seventh) tied with arjun for the most top-10 scores (19) during the month; and nails (10th) scored 159 DC points through St. Patrick’s Day, and then 15 points over the last two weeks of the month. shamsnemesis, dogfloss, and velourfog finished just outside the top 10.

Milestones
  • wafflesobv surpassed 500 yearly race points in March, becoming the 12th player to do so.
  • On March 15, Hg80 played in his 3,000th DC, the 12th player to reach this milestone.
  • On March 2, mrgibson played in his 2,000th DC, the 24th player to reach this milestone.

Stat of the Month
  • 12: The 30/03/2022 DC featured 12 winners, the 16th time that a DC had at least 12 winners. (The record is 19, set twice – most recently on 25/05/2021.)

For anyone ever doing DC points from a Free for All (like Battle Royale) or something similar, I was able to come up with a nice base formula. Of course I didn't really come up with it myself, but I found someone on the net who was tracking similar types stats and I was able to tweak the formula to fit the DC points.. ie 25 points for 1st, 18 for 2nd, etc.... It also handles ties properly.

Best part is that once I import the BattleRoyale results into excel from the TC site, the DC points are calculated immediately. Previously I had a process that was pretty time consuming.

I know lots of you are very knowledgeable with respect to excel, but thought I would share it anyway.

Registration is now open for the World Cup of TripleChain, the second major of 2022. The winner gets a baby blue trophy!

The World Cup will have a league-play format based on the Daily Challenge, which was instituted for the first time in 2021. Participating in the World Cup involves nothing more than playing the DC each day.

Here’s how it works:
  • Each World Cup participant will play head-to-head against a different World Cup participant in the DC each day, until everyone has played every other participant once. I will put together a randomized schedule prior to the start of league play.
  • You get 2 points for a win (i.e., outscoring your opponent in the DC), 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss or DNP (did not play).
  • Once the head-to-head play is complete, the top 8 in the league standings will be put into a seeded playoff bracket to decide the winner. Tiebreakers for seeding and/or playoff spots will be (1) head-to-head results, (2) total points across head-to-head games, and (3) total points across all league games.
  • Each head-to-head playoff match-up will be a three-game series, still using the DC and the same 2/1/0 scoring. If any matches are tied after three DCs, the next day’s DC (and beyond if needed) will be used to break the tie.

Because this is a DC-based tournament, there is no traditional way to sign up on the TripleChain site. The only way to register is to post in this thread or in the TC chatroll that you want to register for the World Cup. The deadline for signing up is 11:59 pm EDT on May 7 (3:59 am GMT on May 8). I will build the schedule of games on May 8, and tourney play will begin with the May 9 DC.

Depending on the number of entries, league play should last through the remainder of May, and the playoffs will likely run in early June. I will create a Google spreadsheet to track the results; a link to the sheet will be posted in the Tourney News section, as will semi-regular updates throughout the competition.

  • arjun13 won the April DC race after a tight month-long battle with SmalltownBoy. arjun posted 19 top-10 scores, second only to StB, but his 13 top-5 scores and six wins (including two in the last eight DCs) led the table. The monthly win was arjun's 26th, the most all-time, and he extended his record streak in the top 10 to 43 consecutive months.
  • SmalltownBoy finished in second place in April but led the standings for much of the month. StB had the most top-10 scores (20), the second-most top-5 scores (11), and managed to finish in every top-10 position except 10th during the month. It was StB's third consecutive top-4 finish and ninth straight top-10 finish.
  • SubArcticK, velourfog, and wafflesobv rounded out the top five. SubArcticK posted five wins, tied for second with StB, and held off a late charge from v-fog and waffles to finish third overall. velourfog had 17 top-10 scores, including a win and second place on the last two days of the month. waffles' third consecutive top-5 finish featured 16 top-10 scores and eight top-3 finishes.
  • Among the rest of the top 10, Hg80 (6th) and Popcorn (10th) tied for the fourth-most wins with four, while nails (9th) finished in the top 10 for the fourth consecutive month, the third-longest active streak (behind arjun and StB). dogfloss (who had 16 top-10 scores but only one in the top 2), Bandwagon, and quaspl finished just outside the top 10.

Milestones
  • On April 3, shamsnemesis became the 25th player to play his 2000th DC.
  • On April 11, Popcorn won her 200th DC, the 14th player to reach this milestone.
  • On April 21, mikeb played in his 3,500th DC, the seventh player to do so.

Monthly Race
  • Dynasty won a closely contested May DC race. Dynasty led the table with six wins and 11 top-5 scores, but he took over the lead with a second-place score on May 30 and pulled away by winning the May 31 DC. It was Dynasty's 23rd monthly DC win, tying him with Paul101 for second-most in DC history.
  • SubArcticK finished in second place in May. SubArc had 17 top-10 scores and 10 top-5 finishes, but only two DC wins for the month. It was SubArc's third top-5 finish this year.
  • Bandwagon, mrgibson, and Donk4 rounded out the top five. Like SubArcticK, Bandwagon had 17 top-10 scores and 10 top-5 finishes. mrgibson had just 11 top-10 scores, but six of them were wins, tied with Dynasty for the most in May. Donk4 rallied into the top five thanks to two wins and four other top-10 scores in the final six days of the month, which constituted just under half of his total points for the month.
  • Among the rest of the top 10, dogfloss (7th) had just 10 top-10 scores, but nine of them were in the top four; velourfog (9th) had 17 top-10 finishes but just one win; and consul (10th) made his first appearance in the top 10 since November 2021.
  • arjun13 finished 11th, missing the top 10 by just seven points. As a result, arjun's all-time record streak of 43 consecutive monthly top-10 finishes came to an end. The streak dated back to October 2018 and is a full year longer than the second-longest streak. quaspl and Derwi were also just outside the top 10.

Milestones
  • On May 7, consul became the eighth player to play in 3,500 DCs.
  • On May 10, Popcorn became the ninth player to play in 3,500 DCs.
  • On May 10, shamsnemesis won his 100th DC, becoming the 26th player to reach this milestone.
  • Hg80 became the 13th player to reach 15,000 DC points.

Stat of the Month
  • 19: Derwi had 19 top-10 scores in May, which was the most of any player during the month, but he never won a DC. That's the most top-10 scores in a month without a win since nails did the same in March 2021, though it was short of Dynasty's all-time record of 21. Speaking of nails, he had 18 top-10 scores in May, second-most behind Derwi, and he too had zero DC wins.

POST 2022-19 Jun 7 - SubArcticK - Summer Match Play Championship

It is time for the 2022 Summer Match-Play Championship. Past winners include Paul101 in 2018, SubArcticK in 2019, and arjun13 in 2020 and 2021. A yellow trophy is up for grabs for the 2022 winner.

Format

-It is a head-to-head (H2H) match play tournament with the winner of each match advancing to the next round. The loser is out.

-Each H2H match will be 50 games played over a period of 20 days (maximum).

-Seeding will be based on the Triplechain tournament ratings at the end of day on June 13th. Seeding will be done in exactly the same way that the TC site is programmed to seed the first and subsequent rounds of any multi-player tourney. (NOTE - There could be some 1st round byes.)

-If fewer than 8 players register the tourney will not run.

Please DO NOT register if you can't commit to play 50 games in 20 days. If you register and don't play, I won't take your entry for this tourney in 2023. (Obviously, if you win your 1st round you will be playing another 50 games in the next 20 days against a different player, and so on).

Because I will be manually creating the 50 game H2H matches, you can't register for the tournament in the normal fashion. Instead you MUST post in chatroll on the Triplechain site or here in the Triplechain thread on the 2+2 site that you are registering for the tournament. Registration will close at 10:00PM ET on Tuesday June 14th. NO LATE ENTRIES.

On June 15th or 16th you can expect to see the first round start. I will create the H2H matches and then announce them on chatroll so that people can join their match and begin.
