Amazing that the Maxi Max finally started at all. How long has it been waiting in the queue? Half the players are MIA.

I have talked to Zac about this before. As nails noted, it is a glitch.. Probably happens in 1 in 200 tourneys.

Zac said it would be almost impossible to find out what is causing it because it is an intermittent problem. I think he said it might be a "race condition." I know nothing about coding so had to look that up...lol

I will let him know but my guess is that he can't do anything about and it will just play out as it plays out.

There are tiebreakers in place -- (1) head-to-head results, (2) total points in the round robin.

Not to give too much away regarding today's DC, but tiebreakers will not be necessary to decide a playoff spot...

I played almost every day (I think I missed 2?), but some days I forgot to click the daily tourney button and only played the 1 game and left thinking I was done.

The round robin is over, and the top 8 are headed into the playoffs! The final day of round-robin play changed nothing -- Nimbusfan captured the last playoff spot, and the playoff seeds also remained the same.

Here are the playoff match-ups:

Each playoff series will be best of three games, with the same scoring used in round-robin play. If any match-ups are tied after three games, a fourth game will be played to break the tie.

2021 Summer Match-Play Championship

It is time for the 2021 Summer Match-Play Championship. Past winners include Paul101 in 2018, SubArcticK in 2019, and arjun13 in 2020. A yellow trophy is up for grabs for the 2021 winner.

Format

-It is a head-to-head (H2H) match play tournament with the winner of each match advancing to the next round. The loser is out.

-Each H2H match will be 50 games played over a period of 20 days (maximum).

-Seeding will be based on the Triplechain tournament ratings on June 8th. Seeding will be done in exactly the same way that the TC site is programmed to seed the first and subsequent rounds of any multi-player tourney. (NOTE - There could be some 1st round byes.)

-If fewer than 8 players register the tourney will not run.

Please DO NOT register if you can't commit to play 50 games in 20 days. (Obviously, if you win your 1st round you will be playing another 50 games in the next 20 days against a different player, and so on).

Because I will be manually creating the 50 game H2H matches, you can't register for the tournament in the normal fashion. Instead you MUST post in chatroll on the Triplechain site or in the Triplechain thread on the 2+2 site (here!!) that you are registering for the tournament. Registration will close at 11:00PM ET on Tuesday June 8th. NO LATE ENTRIES.

On June 9th or 10th you can expect to see the first round start. I will create the H2H tournaments and then announce them on chatroll so that people can join their match and begin.

• arjun13 broke the all-time record for consecutive months in the top 10 of a monthly DC race, and he did so by winning his third monthly DC of 2021. 17 of his 19 top-10 scores in May were in the top 5, including 5 wins and 4 second-place scores. It was arjun's 21st monthly win, which is the second-most all-time, and he extended his monthly top-10 streak to 32 straight months, beating the record of 31 set by Paul101.
  
• SubArcticK and Nimbusfan were second and third in May. SubArc led the field with 21 top-10 scores, while Nimbusfan tied for the most wins during the month with 6.
  
• consul and velourfog rounded out the top 5. consul had his highest monthly DC finish since September 2018, while 13 of velourfog's 16 top-10 scores were in the top 5.
  
• Among the remainder of the top 10, sixth-place anton-09 tied with Nimbusfan for the most wins during the month, Dynasty finished seventh despite just 2 DC wins, and Derwi came in ninth thanks to 5 DC wins, tied with arjun for third-most. Bandwagon, SmalltownBoy, Guessinator, and nails finished just outside the top 10.

Milestones

• With his monthly win in May, arjun13 passed 1000 total yearly race points, the third player to do so (after Dynasty and Paul101).
• Nimbus ended the month by posting the 27th hat trick (three consecutive wins) in DC history from May 29-31.

• 19: The May 25 DC featured a 19-way tie for first, tying the record for the most winners in a single DC, originally set on January 13, 2016.

• In a tightly contested month, arjun13 won his second straight monthly DC race and his fourth so far in 2021. arjun had the most top-10 scores (21) and top-5 scores (14) during the month, and he extended his record monthly top-10 streak to 33 consecutive months.
  
• velourfog and SubArcticK finished second and third in June. velourfog led the table with 6 wins, while SubArc had 20 top-10 scores, second only to arjun.
  
• Nimbusfan and Dynasty rounded out the top 5, and both of them benefited from strong results late in the month to move up in the standings. Two of Nimbusfan's four wins came in the last few days of the month, while Dynasty used a sixth-place finish on the last day to move past Bandwagon and into the top 5.

• The two top-rated players finished first and second in the July DC race. SubArcticK led most of the way, winning his second monthly DC race of the year, while arjun13 moved into second place late in the month and held off a last-minute charge from Bandwagon. Neither player relied on wins, combining for just three, but instead on consistency -- SubArc had 22 top-10 scores, 13 of which were in the top 5, while arjun had 20 top-10 scores and 13 top-5 finishes. Both players extended their lengthy streaks in the monthly top 10 -- 23 for SubArc and 34 for arjun.
  
• Bandwagon finished third in July thanks to 4 wins (tied for second) and 11 top-5 scores (third behind SubArc and arjun).

• The August DC race was closely contested through the first half of the month, with four or five players alternating at the top of the standings. However, Dynasty took over during the last two weeks, posting four wins and eight other top-ten scores to secure the monthly win (his 21st, third-most all-time). Dynasty led the table with seven wins and was second with 21 top-10 scores, 16 of which were in the top five.
  
• arjun13 and Bandwagon finished second and third, respectively. arjun had the most top-10 scores in August (22) en route to his 35th consecutive top-10 finish, while Bandwagon had 14 top-five scores, second only to Dynasty.
