The clumping of numbers in rounds 1-4 looks exactly how a newbie would play.

I agree, but here is what made me suspicious:

1. Round 1 was exactly how anyone playing advanced would play it and there are so many different ways a newbie would play it.

2. The positioning of 1s and 2s is perfect from racks 1 to 4.

3. The rack 2 placement of the 6 is odd and perfect for this DC.

I forgot about the possibility of someone playing as anon a bunch and then registering. I assumed this was their first game, which is why I was quick to accuse them, for which I again apologize.

Is there a chance this becomes an app? I'm sure it's been asked multiple times before.

don't think so, although the creator is fairly recptive to new ideas so you never know. i wouldn't expect it though. FWIW i've never had trouble running this off my phone though (via internet browser)

I'd pay ten bucks for it as an app, but have no interest in it in the browser

That confirms my most recent informal goal - to maintain a #wins > dynasty/2 (it used to be win at a 10% clip ).

I challenge anyone to replay my DC from yesterday and argue that my son wouldn't have played it better.

I thought about it when the game first got a little traction, but never made the leap. And that was when I had more free time (playing poker for a living was great for that). Now that I'm back to writing software for my day job and chasing around an 18 month-old, I'm unlikely to find enough time for it.

Hi Folks

Looked at Cherrycin's win yesterday and cringed a bit. As you know from some previous posts, I introduced her to the game. The killing of 1s in round three looks....well...not too cool. If it had been done by a reg I think we would all be WTF, especially with all the ones that came afterward.

I sent her a note asking why she did that, but no answer yet. I think she may be embarrassed (PS. She has never played poker and I know she doesn't read 2+2, so she wont see this). Anyway, I looked back at some of her recent games and she has killed ones for no reason whatsoever in the Oct 25th, 21st, 20th, 16th and 15th DCs, and she pairs twos in the opening racks often..

As someone who introduced her to the game I have mixed feelings. I am glad she gets a win now and then, but I cant help but feel bad for Anton or anyone to lose to a game that looks so irregular.. I just posted this so that anyone concerned might go over some of her past DCs and see that she has some problems in general with unneeded 1 killing, and basic strategy and tactics in general.

I meant to post this a while ago and forgot.

In the winter classic Shamsnemesis and I had the same score in a game (23296), but we had different bonus point totals. He had 14 and I had 16.

I know identical scores on different chain combos happens from time to time (i.e eight 5s in 4 zones = ten 4s in 4 zones) But, I don't think I have ever seen a DC or a tourney game with identical scores as a result of different bonus point values?

Anyone else ever recall it happening?? I assume it is an extremely rare occurance.

In all my years playing I remember it happening once ever. Think it was about 2 years ago. Still cool when it happens cuz obv its not common.

And don’t know if you still read this thread but gg in the December championship Arjun. Getting 8 points is supposed to be good in bets if 13s lol. Good luck rest of the way

I'll post some final 2017 lenc stats tomorrow..

State of the game for the TripleChain community is not too good. We have gone from an average of about 32 players per game (DCs) 2 years ago to about 22 now. And, Paul just confirmed his exit.

This year we lost NP, lilrascal, Zac, mrgibson, knotwork (and now Paul). Year before it was Gabe, wetwilly, Th10 et al. Lots of very strong players no longer playing.

I get it though. I have not been motivated to play any tourneys for awhile, and I don't think an influx of new players is going to change that for me. I'll probably just do DCs and majors in 2018, as long as I have interest for one or both of those.

Last one leaving turn out the lights, I guess...lol

I'll commit to keeping this updated until the end of the year. There may be times when updating falls a few days behind though.

As noted back in May, I committed to picking up the lenc stats until the end of 2017. The final results are in the link above.

There are separate tabs in the spreadsheet for the lenc race, Total Wins, and Total Points. I have posted screenshots of the race results and total wins below.

Dynasty's 48 wins in calendar year is pretty impressive!!!

Happy New Year all.

thanks for doing this the past year (2?) Sub! always fun to look at. its a shame pauls retiring but i wish him well. obv i'm not saying TC will ever be huge but it goes through highs and lows. 30ish per day was actually the highest i remember from my time playing. every year we gain some and lose some. players sometimes come back. just how it goes.

Waited about a month for a gooseshoot to go off, and then got to the 5th set of dice before I remembered it was reverse scoring.

No problem. I didn't do 2 years though. Wetwilly did beginning of 2016 and when he left Arjun picked them up to the end of 2016, IIRC. Arjun started 2017 and I picked up for him in May or June to finish off 2017.

I don't think anyone has taken the lenc stats on for 2018.

Yeah, not good to see Paul go but I was more concerned about numbers in general and my own dwindling interest in TC. Most new players seem to come through 2+2 POG, and there is no real growth on 2+2. I think in the last 2 and a half years the only new players committed to being regs were me , arjun, shams and nails.

I can only speak for myself but part of what is missing for me is a TC community, per se. I think it would be neat, for example, if there was a ton of non-strategy banter on this thread. It would nice to harass each other for dumb plays or luckbox wins or perfect final racks, etc...or for no reason at all.

For example, congrats on wins 99 and 100, waffles, but FU for thieving two wins from me with two lame openings and ridiculous rack 9s. lol (just kidding on the openings).

I just think about what I enjoy about golfing with my buddies. We are all Ok at golf (usually all break 80) but the fun is the relentless badgering and trash-talking that goes on.

Heck, I want to take some shots at people here (in a light hearted way, of course) and I expect to get the same back if I make bonehead moves or fluke of a win with almost no win equity going into rack 9.... Or, for just no reason at all.

Instead, we just all play our game, go away, and come back again the next day and do the same.

I doubt if the lack of connection is why some people leave, though. I think the reason is probably the high level of variance inherent in the design of the game. Over the very long term things sort themselves out, but a person can simply run bad for a stretch of 50-100 games, and with only 365 DCs a year, there are not the amount of games available to play through a downswing in a reasonable period of time.

So probably people leave out of frustration for one reason or another. After all, it cant be because they cant find 5 mins a day to play a DC, and it cant be because they "solved" the game.

PS. I remember one time when Paul and I were PMing back and forth I asked why why he made a certain move with a 1. He said "because I am idiot." That exchange would have been so much better in the thread. And BTW, while Paul could come of arrogant and blunt in the thread at times, he actually has a pretty neat and dry sense of humour one-on-one...

Off and on over the years, but mostly before the tournaments were implemented, the Timed mode filled much of the role you are talking about. Some strategy discussion, but a lot of (friendly) trash talk as well. Maybe there would be market for a regularly scheduled Timed game -- "meet at 2:00 EST on Fridays" or whatever.

Personally, I've (Alex) been fading away from TC as well. My game has definitely stagnated and I haven't been interested enough in the game to work on it.
