Expert rack 8 play in yesterday's DC by me

Ha! Snaking 5s is overrated

I've done similar things many times in the past and have no plans to stop doing them in the future.

Congrats. DC's are tough to win, there's a lot of elite players at the top that just keep collecting those wins to keep the rest of us down.

It really is great to see the influx of new players.

Popcorn's inevitable crushing of my dreams of getting in to the DC top ten inflicted another hammer blow yesterday. GG,

Talk to me about round 7. I would snake the 3s pretty much always, I think, over the ~20% chance of snaking the 5s next round. Is that a leak?

I would complete the five-zone 3-chain every time (and did).

Rack eight delivering three 5s was a lucky or unlucky break depending on your setup.

Now that goose is becoming more popular, how about a goose daily challenge as well? It would give the newer player something to go for, seeing that I'm 189 wins behind number 1

whoops, I thought only two fives were required not three.

What about if rack 7 was 62335 (i.e. a 5 in for the 4). Is it worth gambling on 5s then?

Getting 2 or more of the same number in a rack is 16.08%
Getting 3 or more of the same number in a rack is 3.22%

In the hypothetical 533 in rack 8, you have a decent option in placing 1x3 in Left zone- bottom-right and the 5 in center zone, bottom left. You still can snake 3s if no 5s appear in rack 8 and you need either 2x5 in rack 8 or 1x5 in rack 8 and 1x5 in rack 9

This play by popcorn is horrendous. It can only be caused by being terrible or by TMI.

There are certain situations in which going for the 3% shot of a DC win has to be preferable to a 20% shot at not winning by a smaller margin, but I'm not sufficiently situationally aware to have a clue when they are.

If he plays the 3's normally and a single 5 comes in rack 8, he will have a nutty score

So it really is ****ing terrible what popcorn did

Wonder what the record is for most winners of a daily challenge are? Yesterday seems like it'd be up there.

I forgot to play yesterday.

I was the only red to co-win

Waffles and Paul were 24 and 26, if a 6 comes in rack 9, they will be # 1 and 2.

I find that round 1 play by Dynasty incredibly weak. Why would you place a 1 in the center when you can put a 5 and have so many more setups available for the next 3 rounds.

I guess the rationale is that if you are going to play the Dynasty strategy, you'd rather have the 5s as the outside chain and the 6s as the major inner chain.

But yeah, it seems too committal to me as well.

I failed by keeping my options too open in yesterdays DC. I lost in Round 5 by not connecting a 4 because I wanted to leave open the possibility of snaking the 4s by hitting the top and left zones. Is that clearly wrong, clearly right, or clearly unclear?

(Also, I figured I was better off matching the slightly badly placed 2 in the upper zone than one of the other 2s. But that's pretty minor I think.)

This is the situation:

1 left, 2 top, 4 right looks solid, But 4 to the top helps in the 20% chance of a 11xxx round 9.

You regret playing 4 to the top in situations where you get exactly three more 4s and only one more 5 at most, that's probably rare.
