Almost timed out on The Big Three - had 3 hours remaining. This is why I don't play tournaments any more!

At 5-2 with 3 games left to play, I was slightly tempted to time out on the remaining three games and lock up a 10-7 win.

Playing two big tourneys, Max Capacity and The Big Three. I either get to say I knocked TH10 out of both or I get to say I lost the final of both.

Congrats.

Had a quite strange 60k game a few days back.

I had a rack 8 situation in the doc which I was arguably still in with a chance of winning the dc, but the maths was too hard for me to work out what was actually right so I just guessed. Sigh

Anyone want to tell me what my right r8 play was yesterday?

This is the spot:

I think this decision is made by your 5-chain.

If you do not put the 5 in the center, you get a suboptimal chain and need a 5 in rack 9 to make it optimal again, besides the right number of 2s. You can be sure that if you guess 2s correctly, many others might do too and the 5-chain could be decisive.

So I would place the 5 in the middle and the rest follows logically - the 2 goes in the upper zone, the 1 goes to the right [EDIT: to the left](do not make the mistake of placing the 1 in the left [EDIT: the right] zone, thinking it does not matter, because it does) and the 3 and 6 go in the remaining spots (left and bottom [EDIT: right and bottom])

Just hope for a 2-less 9th rack and nobody 3-zoning 4s AND 5s and you could have a shot at winning.

Why do you say the one goes on the right? I think it goes on the left. I care about winEV not scoreEV.

If rack 8 would have been 12346, that changes things, because you can place that 4 in 3 spots rather than only 1

In that case the best play imo is to put the 1 in the upper zone, 2 in the middle and 346 follow easily.

That wins if at least 1×2 appear in rack 9 (60%) and has the additional advantage you can handle 2-3 1s in rack 9 (e.g. 112xx)

Actually you are right the 1 must go to the left. My reasoning was correct, but I flipped the conclusion. The 1 needs to go to the left, so you have the left zone ready for rack 9 4s or 5s. The right zone is not valuable for 4s or 5s and is better kept open for 1s in rack 9.

The dream of 26k average for the year's DCs is slowly slipping away. Currently averaging 25931. So close...

Given that there are already connected 2s in the top zone, the 2 ALWAYS goes in the top zone. In fact, because the centre zone doesn't contain a 1, ANY Round 8 which contains a 2 must be played with the 2 up top, even 2111x (why?)

Then the 5 goes in the middle, 1 goes left (in case Round 9 is 114xx, 144xx or high bonus content like 1122x) and we don't care about the other two dice.

There's no conflict here between win EV and score EV.

lol paul is right and the problem is actually supereasy. The 2 needs to be in the top, because there is no amount of 2s that can come in rack 9 that makes placing the 2 in the middle superior.

Placing the 2 in the middle is better if there are 4 or 5 2s in the last rack.

This conversation has only come about because of a mistake with the 2s in Round 6 though (I think). They should be connected via the bottom and right zones

Could the remaining KRALs be deleted? It seems very unlikely that they would ever run, so would be better off removing them altogether imo.

There is a bug in Advanced mode. When you've played at least one die, and use a re-roll or change a die, and then try to start a new game, it doesn't start a new game, instead comes this message:

Seems like old service is resumed in the DC, for a while, it was possible to win DCs but now it's back to dynasty/paul/gaby winning everything and no one else getting a look in
