Final score was only 5-4 in my favor. Though, I was up 5-1 after your presumed trainwrecks in games 4-6.

Not too unhappy to lose by only one after those disasters. These are good examples of games where things start to go wrong, and then they REALLY go wrong.

Link: Games 4-6

After losing 6 flips in a row, I finally won one against dogfloss.

Let's all take a moment to laugh at Gaby for being the only player ever to be eliminated in the round of 32 in a tourney.

yesterday's DC was a hearty lol - when i entered it everyone had scored the same score (plus it ended up being an easy win _and_ most people on a similar number of wins to me didn't get it, so score!)

It's OK. When you're crushing the field this badly you've gotta give them something every so often to keep it interesting.

That was a first for me, same score and exact same time. Nice to see timed running again!

Just realized that I threw away the nut challenge score by placing a one next to another one for absolutely no reason the previous round. Gahhhhhh.

There's an epic tournament battle in the works... I honestly don't know who's the favorite. Should be a good one!

Also, belated but very grateful thanks to NP for his SECOND donation to the TC cause. Thanks for the support!

Also, now that tournaments seem to be working somewhat smoothly, I think it's about time we have another official one. We're long overdue for some hardware!

I don't want to lose the excitement of timed mode entirely, so this is the format that I'm considering:

Four qualifying tournaments played in normal tournament mode. Best of 7 games, unlimited size, seeded randomly. The winner of each tournament will advance to the final four. The final four will be best of 11 in timed mode, same as previous tournaments.

I think this adds some excitement while eliminating most of the scheduling problems we've faced in the past. Two other options:

- three qualifying tourneys, with the winners of the first two going to the final four and the three second place finishers and the winner of the final tourney playing a wildcard round.

- four qualifying tourneys, top two advance from each.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a good compromise. Tbh I like the first option best (4 qualifier tourneys, winners advance). It's simpler and means you don't have dead rubbers. Plus you have to win to advance. The problem I can see with this though is that the 4 qualifiers will probably have to be played concurrently (otherwise it will take forever), but then what happens if someone wins multiple tourneys? The second-place finishers battle it out somehow? Easy enough I guess if someone wins two or even 4 but very annoying if someone wins 3.

Could play two qualifiers first and then the winners of these don't play the last two qualifiers, which only start when the first two have finished. That solves the problem nicely.

How will the seedings be done for the Timed matches? Timed rating or random? Guess I prefer random.

Also, now we've seen that clearly anyone can win at best of 9s, can I make another push for making the matches longer? Make the qualifiers best of 9 and the Timed games best of 15?
