Thingyman's 20K Love and Compliments Thread Thingyman's 20K Love and Compliments Thread

01-26-2013 , 02:50 AM
I have been preparing this post since atakdog started that compliments thread last year. It only seems more appropriate than ever at this specific moment given my recent clash with CPHoya and my announcement that I was quitting POG. During this ordeal I have received a shocking amount of support which I found really heartwarming. I am truly very grateful. And so I am only happy that I can offer this thread in return. Consider it a dedication to all my wonderful friendships and the acquaintances that I’ve made on POG. My clash with CPHoya happened exactly because I view this as a community where I prefer everyone to get along. That is an unrealistic ideal, evidently, but I find it to be an admirable one nonetheless. I hope that me and CPHoya will mend fences, but I guess we will see on that . In any case, get prepared for the incoming massive amounts of love thrown your way, POG!

I'll try to keep the post a bit shorter this time than when I did my 10k <3 post (after having written the post: I think I failed on this). The first part is in alphabetical order. I’m sorry that some of these are shorter than others, but I reached a point where I had no energy left whatsoever. If you haven't been mentioned and you feel like you should, then I ensure you that it's 100 % because I just forgot you!

Andynan: It needn't be said - you have for a very long time held a very special place in my heart and I'm sad that I couldn't go to Seville to visit you in 2010 which I would've liked very much to do if it wasn't so much out of the way and because I had a friend with me on the trip . I hope to rectify that sometime in the future. I'm glad to see that a lot of people complimented you in the compliments thread and that I'm not the only one who loves you and what you bring to this community so very much. Your personality alone is enough - you're such a joyous spirit and a goofy person bringing fun (in your absolutely own unique way) to everything you do. Hell, I'll also reveal that you're the only pogger that I have marked as a close friend on Facebook so that I see all your updates. Despite all your updates being in Spanish, they still bring a smile to my face when I see them . It's like you just operate on a totally different level from practically everyone else when you play games and when you read and respond to posts - there is just always heart in what you do. You appreciate people, the interactions between people, the games and even the little details in a way that makes it so easy to appreciate you. There's not an evil bone in your body and while biggerboat flatters me endlessly much by having compared me to you, I am sincerely no match for you and I can only aspire to possess a fragment of your awesomeness. And all of this is without mentioning the massive amount of time and effort you put into making POG a better place with all your games - not only have you modded lots of games, but very innovative and self-made ones! If I was asked who should be the inspiration for every pogger, you would be my default answer. Much love <3.

atakdog: Well, first of all I would like to compliment you on creating the compliments thread which I find to be just one example of your good-natured personality (I somewhat ironically say this having once been the reason behind a tiny outburst of yours resulting in your only infraction ever :P). I've always found you to be a very intelligent, rational, good and sometimes very lovably dry-humored person :P. I enjoy your presence on POG mainly due to two things: 1) Your uniqueness (where other people may dislike your longwindedness or whatever, I like anyone that puts his own mark on his posts) and 2) Your ability to argue your stance in various matters so that I don't have to (I find that we on a whole ride range of matters have very overlapping opinions). I was rooting for you wrt your relationship with Devi (and as you may remember, also helped avoid a potential stalking disaster lol) and where others may make fun of you for your statements about the hasty relationship, I applaud you for your courage and am very sad that it didn't work out. But I am also hopeful on your behalf (even if you aren't yourself) because you are da man - so don't fret. Good luck on your hip btw. Also, I was sad to hear about Hannah, but I am sure that you have many happy memories with her to look back upon (I just rewatched your last toast with her and it’s very touching) <3.

Birdman10687: It’s funny, because we haven’t talked that much, and I actually even remember getting the impression that you maybe sort of disliked me from one of our first games that we both played, but despite all that I remember that you once messaged me privately, telling me that I should be more active, which I really appreciated a whole lot, and since then we’ve had our occasional talks where you seem to live very much up to your undertitle (“Not a Troll IRL”). On the forums you sometimes appear to have a “tough exterior” (maybe not the right word) due to your trolling, but whenever I’ve chatted with you in private, it’s always been clear to me that you’re a deceptively nice guy <3.

bsball8806: First of all, thanks for modding my very first game on POG. It cannot be stated enough how vital it is for a player to experience a good first experience when it comes to werewolf and you more than provided that for me. In addition to that, thanks for your advice on my USA trip, it’s much appreciated (and @ POG, I’m sorry btw for always bringing it up, I’m sure it’s tiresome at this point :P). I’d love to grab a beer with you at some point on the East Coast, and maybe you could bring along wahoo and Birdman, the two other Musketeers <3.

Chips Ahoy: You are the perfect pogger and I am thankful for not only your presence on POG, but also for your friendship and for your wisdom (as you may remember, there was one particular moment last year where I was very frustrated with another pogger, and you helped calm me down. Edit: lol, I guess we all know what this is referring to now :P). I guess I don’t need to speak of all the good things you’ve done, so I will just single out your help with the database and the awesome FennecFox as being particularly awesome. I hope you get all the good karma that should be coming your way if there was any justice in the universe <3.

Crossnerd: You are one of several people who I consider a friend, despite being a “controversial” figure in POG. I want everyone to get along, so I find it upsetting when confrontations occur between you and other people, but from what I’ve seen it has toned down significantly which makes me very happy, because I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that one of the reasons for all those confrontations simply had to do with the fact that you're a passionate and straightforward person - something I identify with and appreciate a lot. I really enjoy our talks about ANTM and the fact that you - like me - always root for the underdogs and those who are ridiculed by the other girls. You are an awesome person with lots of passion and affection for your friends, making you someone that everyone would be extremely happy and lucky to have as a friend (as proven by your helpfulness with my road trip for example – I sent you a PM btw like you asked for :P) - and I’m sad if not everyone realizes that. I'm looking very much forward to meeting you in Las Vegas next year <3.

Cueballmania: Cue, you are a great person with lots of glorious life to live and the only fault of yours is not realizing that. I would not spend as much time trying to convince you otherwise if I didn't truly believe that and considered you a close and good friend (they say you love the ones you tease, so I must be gay for you with my almost daily Cue joke :P). I hope you're starting to be better on yourself because you deserve it! I won't go on a tirade of encouraging words, because I've already subjected you to enough of that - but if you ever need more of them or you just need to talk about anything and everything, you should always feel free to hit me up. And let's meet up in the US, m'kay? <3.

DonkDonkDonkDonk: We haven’t talked that much, but from our few interactions I consider you a stand up guy. The real reason I’m writing this though is to compliment you on your bravery in sharing your mom’s condition. I saw you write about it in the pub some months ago, so I write this without knowing what her current state is and what the doctors have said – I really hope her state hasn’t deteriorated (if it has, I’m so so incredibly sorry and heartbroken for you ) and I truly wish you and your mom the best luck in the world! Your posts really hit deep with me and I got instantly depressed upon reading them, because the doctors think my mom may have cancer too, and the worst thing about it is that they have been suspecting this for years now, but I only found out about it a couple of months ago. I obviously forced my mom to get tested and we will have the results sometime soon. I haven’t told anyone about this, not even any of my real life friends, because it’s just too depressing for me to think about, so I prefer to hide it away. And now I’m getting depressed again writing this, but if you ever need to talk with anyone about your situation, know that I’m here <3.
Edit: I PM’ed this bit to DonkDonkDonkDonk first before posting it and I think he won’t mind me saying that his mom is doing ok at the moment .

essedarius: We never really talked much during my first year on POG, but that really picked up after we created the Skype chat and even more so when we started playing Hunger Games together which I really miss. And boy, am I happy about getting to know you – at first you just seemed like this weird Finnish guy who was really good at werewolf and who was a complete question mark to me as a person, but after talking with you, you’re a really, really great (and funny!) guy – plus you have an adorable accent! . It’s sad that you’re not around on POG much anymore, but I’m happy that we still get to chat now and then. If I had to choose someone to get wasted with, I’d definitely choose you, buddy <3.

ElliotR: I don't think I've ever been as angered on anyone else's behalf as I was when you were attacked and demodded last year. I was outraged, and well, still am, when I think back to it. Now the point in me saying this is not to dig any of that stuff up again, but rather to tell you that I felt like that because I consider you one of the most friendly people I've ever encountered in my life. You are truly a great person in too many regards to go into specifics. You put to shame the idea that lawyers are scum or selfish or whatever the cliche is :P. Frankly, I'd like to grow up to become the person that you are! And I am looking very much forward to having beers in Las Vegas <3 (notice how I didn't say that I'm looking forward to running 10 miles up the San Diego coast with you, but hey, good luck on your half-ironman! :P).

Forsythio: We’re part of the same POG generation and from the get-go I’ve only ever seen you show yourself in all kinds of positive manners. I’ve never seen you frustrated, angry or upset with anyone and I’ve never seen you be anything but a positive asset in games and to the POG community. You’re just a really likable and good guy, and I’m happy to call you a friend. I’m sad that we don’t talk as much as we used to – but maybe we can meet up somewhere in the US next year? (get your ass to the LV meet up!). Much love brotha <3.

filthyvermin: We haven’t actually really talked privately very much, but nonetheless I’d like to compliment you on being such a nice, fun and quirky guy! You’re a positive presence in the pub especially. I love that you’re crazy about Taylor Swift and aren’t afraid to against the grain in that way like me with all my similar girly interests . I love your pub toasts. I love your hair. And I’m down to cast you in a movie sometime soon <3.

G0tGame?: You probably won't read this, but I couldn't just lump you in with the "retired poggers", because you have truly been one of my greatest friends on POG and someone who I've talked with a great deal, if not the most, outside of POG. You are a selfless person who doesn't mind listening to other people's stories and complaints - at least I know that I've sometimes felt guilty for making you listen to all that I've had to say about various things, but you always paid attention and never made me feel bad. I know that your kind spirit has also shown itself to every other pogger, seeing as you are one the veeeery few people to never have lost his cool. It's a great loss for POG not to have you around anymore as you contributed to making it an awesome place in a lot of ways! Personally, I will especially miss playing strategic games with you where you were always my closest ally <3.

J.D. I forgot you last time, but I sure won’t make the same mistake again! Firstly, I’m so glad to hear that you are recovering quickly from your stroke – my heart dropped when I read that and I’m relieved that you’re doing better. You’re an awesome guy and also a straight shooter which I really appreciate, since you’re always cool about it. I also like that you share my same desire for everyone to get along, a love for your fellow community members, and of course you also share my POG addiction as expressed in this post :P. I hope to continue my streak of ALWAYS randing the same team as you in ww games <3.

kioshk: Thanks for the compliments in that compliment thread – and back at you, man! You’ve always been super friendly to me and have just always had my back which I appreciate enormously. I think what I find the most heartwarming about our friendship is that we’re different in so many ways, yet so so similar . Also, you’re absolutely great for the sheep community, you make wonderful toasts and of course you’re a master of puns – oh and, you have excellent taste in music :P. I really enjoy your friendship and you will forever remain the only person who can convince me to play sheep against my own will <3.

legend42: I've honestly never been more happy to see a person return to POG! You are just a great, great, great person and I hope that it wasn't anything bad IRL that kept you from POG (as possibly indicated by one of your last posts before disappearing), or that if it was that you managed to work things out. Other than being a great person, I'd also like to compliment you on being a very smart person. Both those things made you a great mod imo. Someone once accused you of actually not modding much - while this may or may not be true (I have no idea), that person is forgetting the extra duties and responsibility that you took upon yourself. Modding isn't only about banning and infracting people - those things are only done to achieve an end goal of making the forum a better place and I think you accomplished that end goal better than anyone else by being a shiny example of the ideal pogger who is always kind to others and not only participates in games, but also sets up and helps others set up games. I don't know anyone who didn't/doesn't look up to you and if that isn't a hell of a fine trait for a mod, I don't know what is. You may not be green anymore, but I still consider you that shiny example for everyone else <3.

Maruchan: You’re the only pogger I have on MSN, so I thought that deserved a special shout out . I have no idea if you’re even around anymore and will ever read this, but if not, I am writing this to make sure that everyone knows that you were/are an uber friendly and very relatable guy who put his best effort into anything you ever did on POG. Please come back / become more active <3.

master3004: I think you may be the person that I’ve exchanged the most words with over the last year, which all started in Big Brother of course :P. I appreciate your apology in that compliments thread – it really isn’t needed (while I’m still sad about the result, I certainly don’t hold ill will against anyone), but it’s cool of you to do it. It shows a lot about you – only true friends apologize for silly stuff they shouldn’t have to apologize for :P. I’ve always been of the belief that the friendships from those games are the really valuable thing, and I really treasure your friendship. You’re an awesome person all around and I’m looking forward to the day that you and your family settle down in Scandinavia . Until then, keep on rocking (good job with that weight loss!) and let’s meet up in the States <3.

metsandfinsfan: You’ve received lots of flack throughout the years, and hell, I have once or twice also been very upset with you, but one thing that I have never doubted and never will is the fact that you’re a good and sensitive human-being with a ginormous heart. We haven’t talked as much lately as we used to unfortunately, but I really enjoyed the old days where we had loads of fun, both in frustrating ww games (I know you like to bring up the draft game ) and in strategy games where we were always each other’s rivals, despite often trying to work together, but always failing :P. I will always wish the best for you <3.

McAvoy: You were my first really good friend on POG (which is obviously why you got a top billing + the longest speech in my 10k post back in 2010). You may be a quirky and weird guy with some deserved bannings in his past, but behind all that dilly-dally you're a family man with a lovely daughter (and another kid on the way, congratulations!) and a heart of gold - you're just overall a very friendly and open guy with much love to share with the world! I know that I'm not the only person to appreciate you, because you've made an excellent habit out of befriending POG noobs and making them feel welcome which I admire a great deal. I also know that you are one of the few people who think of POG more as a community than as a place for playing games, shown in your heavy participation in community threads, the skype chat, meet-ups with poggers etc. I'm happy to have you as a friend and as a fellow member of the POG community and I hope to someday meet you <3.

necro: If I recall correctly, I think we first started getting to know each other on Skype, after you hosted some turbo ww games for us. Since then we’ve grown to become very good friends (even if you mistook me for Duckburg on Facebook lol :P). If I haven’t told you before, I will say it now: You are incredibly helpful and sincere – and also a sensitive guy like me . Even a small thing like when you were always asking me to make more Minecraft videos is something I really appreciated and it shows that you’re encouraging and interested in other people, which is an excellent trait – so compliments on that :P. I have particularly enjoyed our talks about Hunger Games (the book as well as the Minecraft game) – I promise I’ll get that third book read soon, so we can talk about it. Love you buddy <3.

Toganim: I wasn’t gonna mention any Danes because I primarily know you guys from our Danish forum, but there’s no way I can omit you from this post. It’s no secret that you’re my best friend from our Danish forum and that I really enjoy our talks – I really don’t feel like I can have those talks with anyone else from that forum. We’ve disagreed on a lot of stuff because of your wacky ideas, but it’s always fun to discuss strategy with you. You are actually the only person that I particularly enjoy talking strategy with, since I’m easily bored when it comes to 1-on-1 ww discussions :P. We had that one big fall-out at one point with me making a stupid mistake which is luckily completely in the past, but us coming back from that and being great friends again really shows a lot about our friendship which I will always treasure <3.

VarianceMinefield: I think it's funny that our friendship sort of started on a lie and yet at the same time on a truth, seeing as I reached out to you in Big Brother - our first game together - with the purpose of keeping you as a close, but expendable ally, which of course required for us to get to know each other and chat a lot. While I finally did "have to" let you go, you never took it personally and even voted for me to win which didn't even seem like a difficult decision for you which I think is very impressive. You're someone who is able to balance having passion for a game, yet at the same time being able to dissociate yourself from its negative emotional sides - something incredibly rarely seen on POG which can be such a hateful place at times. Now here 1 year later, I talk a bunch with you outside of POG and I consider you a true and dear friend. I've actually told you things about my life that nobody else in POG (or even on my Danish forum) know about me - not necessarily because they are closely guarded secrets at all, but just because it's something that's only natural to bring up with close friends during certain conversations. I know that you apparently get some hate because of your aggression in games (hell, you even frustrated me a bit in the 2 games that we played, but that was partly because of how good you were :P) and because of you "white horsing" Crossnerd or whatever. Well, when people say those things, what I see instead is passion and sticking up for your friends - two qualities that I value very much. Oh, and let's watch tv shows together again <3.

well named: I campaigned for you to become a mod (obv unneeded because nobody needed be persuaded) because I think that you're just a really good guy in a multitude of ways. I also think that we're much alike - at least I feel good about myself comparing myself to you and hopefully you take this as a compliment :P. From the first time I saw you post, you've been a stand up and fun guy, and since you've been a mod you have never disappointed me, even despite us having a heavy disagreement on a matter last year. And that's exactly why you're a good mod - no matter what, you present your side of an argument in a rational and well thought out manner, while also allowing for other people to post their thoughts. So even if someone doesn't like your decision (and I know we're alike in this regard and both want everyone to like what we do, but that's especially an impossibility wrt modding), they usually respect and appreciate it. I know you've considered being demodded many times and I'll guess that goes for many of the mods, and hell, I only think that's a good sign - it shows that you care about your work and aren't a tyrant with no care at all for people's opinions. Someone once told me that the best leader in tight knit communities is a hesitant leader and I think you fit that bill perfectly <3.

WhiteGoose: I’ll keep this one short. I’d like to compliment you on being a character . I enjoy how you carry yourself and your opinions and stances and how you keep to them even if people are hating. And I just so happen to agree with you on a lot. At the very least, I’m definitely in the CeCe fan club with you! <3.

And because this really is too overwhelming, I'm really sorry, but I have to be lazy and group people together to save time:

I’ll start off by mentioning some of my most recent good friends from that damned new ww generation. I am speaking of for example Aksdal whose presence in Skype chat I really enjoy – you’ve been very good at keeping me sane in various Skype chat discussions where I’ve found that we often agree :P. captain binkles is of course also a lovely new addition to Skype chat – I’d like to compliment you not only on your ww skills which I’ve seen myself from when we wolfed together, but also on being a truly great and awesome and open person to chat with and also a wonderfully helpful person (in particular I’d like to thank you for modding my birthday game!). JimHalpert – you too have really been loads of fun to chat with and play with in both ww games and strategy games, and thanks for the shout out in the compliments thread, it’s much appreciated man <3. I look forward to having chats about the upcoming Survivor season which should hopefully be a good one. Last, but not least of course, there is The Moocher, my favorite Scot! Happy birthday, my man! We also first got to know each other from wolfing together which was really fun (TTTTT Team for the win!) and after that we’ve been good buddies – come to Aarhus sometime and let’s enjoy a beer while listening to the Stone Roses and watching Firefly or Breaking Bad .

I’d also like to give a shout out to Hurp Durpington actually, even though we haven’t really talked much – but I’d just like to say that your posts on POG have consistently come across as fuzzy and friendly to me, so compliments on that . Also compliments to hardcoreUFO and sangaman who both – despite me usually just skimming POG once in a while these days – have stood out as genuinely nice guys and as players who take games seriously and try to do their absolute best. They seem to be the future of POG and all that :P Oh, and, another “new cat” that I like a lot is vixticator who I haven’t talked much with either, but who likewise strikes me as a cool guy (and a movie buff like me!) that I’d like to get to know.

The mods are also very deserving of a shout out – past ones as well as the current ones (I’ll just focus on the current ones though). well named, you’ve already gotten more than enough words. TimeLady, I have always been envious of how much smarter than me you are, despite us being the almost exact same age – and I think you’ve managed the modding task very well! Along with well named you’ve been a breath of fresh air and I think you both manage to be “in touch” with the poggers quite well <3. And obviously you take on a lot of non-mod related stuff that also contributes to the forum a whole lot, so kudos on that! gtpitch – thanks for being helpful with the ww database and just being a super cool dude in general. Whenever you come along, I never feel worried, because you’re always sensible in what you do and say. soah – it cannot be stressed enough how important you have been to POG imo. Firstly, since I’m complimenting people, it should obviously be mentioned that you’re maybe the best ww player ever and that I always feel honored to play with you. But other than that, I think it’s very clear that you from the very beginning have felt strongly about the upkeep of POG – whether it be through modding or discussing strategy or rules or whatever. I think I’ve seen a few people criticize your style of modding which may be because you to some people can seem harsher than the other mods, but I ascribe that to you being very responsible and serious about your modding duties. I know that I will always feel safe with you behind the POG wheel. If you should ever quit as a mod again, then that will be a very, very dark day for POG.

Oh, and since I wrote the above paragraph, two new mods have been added to POG: Noah – It seems very clear to me that you’re a perfect choice for modship, and I’m glad to see that basically everyone else agrees. I’d like to say thank you for dealing well with my pressuring of you back when you modded Anniversary last year – and I’m happy that you liked my "Someone to Chew" song which was of course inspired by your love for the wonderful Adele . LKJ – I don’t know you very well unfortunately, but I am definitely one of those people who can only see the benefits to you becoming a mod, and so far I haven’t seen anything from you that suggests that I should change my stance on that :P.

I’ve mentioned most of the OOTV’ers in the above, but some that I missed are SavageTilt, cash mahne and cstone, all of whom I really enjoyed playing and watching Survivor and Big Brother with. I think I watched like almost a whole season of Big Brother with cstone lol :P. Oh, and thanks to SavageTilt for being so ever helpful with the Survivor live stream links – you keep giving me the links and I keep forgetting them, so thanks for your patience and helpfulness . I’ll also mention Alrighty Roo, since I often see him in OOTV. I think I may have only played one game with you (my birthday game where you subbed in – thanks for that btw), but you really impressed me with how much effort and positivity you gave to that game!

Oh man, Skype chat has to be mentioned too of course. The crazy young guys around my age: Aaronk56’s Son, younguns87 and gder402. I love you guys and I miss the days where we had fun playing games on Skype and pulling each other’s chains <3. My eternal rival in strategy games lol : ibavly. kcaw is also a super duper cool guy, and he’s lucky to have an equally cool wife whose pop-ins into the Skype chat are very enjoyable! And the “new guy” TBobLP who I am so happy to see nominated for favorite new pogger, because you’re a really great guy and I really appreciate the offer to make me a song yesterday lol :P. Oh, and as I only recently found out, the Anniversary game that we (read: you) dominated was actually your first wolf game which is really impressive, so I can only imagine that almost a year later you are pwning souls! Another relatively new addition is SGT RJ who I must say is a breath of fresh air. You’re the definition of “cool chick” and the prime example of what every new pogger should strive to be. And as if that wasn’t enough, you are a Trekkie! On top of that, you’re also awesome for pretending like my ginger jokes aren’t getting old <3. WinEvryRacex rejoined the chat and POG around my birthday ww game last year I think which I’m really happy about. You were sorely missed, WERx – and I’m looking forward to being a fellow UCSD alumni, even though you won’t be there when I start :P. In that vein, I’ll give a shoutout to another UCSD mate: Youngplayer9 <3. In Skype chat we also find the magnificent pwnsall who is to Skype what amplify is to POG . reno expat is another cool dude who I wish would be around more! And then of course there is the one and only… shortline99! Your Skype concerts remain one of my few really treasured memories/moments from my time on POG – those were really good times with fantastic singing and playing! And I will make good on my promise and get you that old school game . Last, but not least, I’d like to mention Felix the Cat. Just today you left Skype chat and announced, like I did yesterday, that you were ready to quit POG. We had a talk and I don’t know how much that helped, but in any case, I understand your feelings, and I hope that you reconsider / have reconsidered <3.

I can’t forget about my beloved project: the ww database (spoiler in middle of long OP: I have plans for a new one). A lot of people helped with this and I have mentioned a lot of them already, so I won’t mention those again. Really, two people need to be singled out for their hugely incredible contribution and dedication to the database, without whom the database would’ve never been a realistic possibility and wouldn’t be able to stay updated. I am talking of course about Krayz and Evene. I cannot put into words how happy I am that you guys wanted to help me make my little POG “dream” come true – and hell, while I’ve been busy, you’ve even had to just take over :P.

Additionally, I’d like to thank the people who have shown a great interest in the database – a couple people who I haven’t mentioned already in this post and who I have noticed make several posts complimenting us database people on our work and being appreciative of the database (it cannot be stressed enough how much time there has been put into this, and it’s the appreciation that is our pay for it, so thank you everyone who’s expressed this) are for example KruZe and iversonian, so much love guys! Oh and @ iversonian – awesome Hitler video, that is legit the funniest thing I have seen in POG and maybe even on the internet, no joke!

Thank you to all the people who played in my birthday invitational ww game last year. It had been a really long time since I played with some of you guys and I am incredibly happy that I got the chance to do that again. The people from that game that haven’t already been mentioned are: A.Ertbjerg, BombayBadboy, Cadaz, mflip, MinusEV, Nicholasp27, OnThInIcE911, riverfish1, tabako and XXsooted. This post has grown way too long and you all received personalized invitations, so you’ll have to settle for that, sorry :P. But again, thanks a lot for being willing to participate in my birthday game <3.

I guess I also have to make a group out of “people who I especially enjoy playing ww with and whose name being on the sign up list makes me want to play that game”, since I can see that some really awesome people have managed to go unmentioned: Telcontar, much love to you my lovable insane smiley-fixated Irish friend <3. Senor Cardgage, you better sign up for some games in February, because I’m still mad at you for subbing out of the last game that we played together. You are by far top top tier for me when it comes to enjoyable ww players who are ALSO extremely good, a rare mix :P <3. CalledDownLight, we haven’t spoken much together in private, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoy you being you in ww games and I would have it no other way <3. A new player like Treep also deserves some mentioning in this group because I was really impressed with her performance in the Anniversary game last year… And to follow up on that: derwipok, you run good at life, bro :P. You’re a really friendly and a calm and collected guy which I must really commend you on. You are just one great individual – and I guess maybe also a reserved individual, because despite having talked with you in private and having been around POG for as long as you, I don’t know too much about you other than the positive things that shine through via your personality <3.

Furthermore, I'd like to compliment some of those people who I regretfully may not have spoken with very much in private or be close friends with, but I who nonetheless feel have been vital to my enjoyment of POG. First off, there is POG’s resident funny-man amplify. Who is challenged by wahoopride though of course. Along with kioshk they are in a tier by themselves in my opinion – at least, I find myself laughing at their jokes all the time. Someone else whose posts I enjoy are DiggertheDog – we once were on rocky terms after some misunderstanding in a ww game, but I’m glad that that’s behind us. I’ve always been fond of the chimp and how much he cares about games (epic end of game thread re-reads come to mind lol) <3. Another absolutely wild character that I have to compliment on his craziness, creativity and uniqueness is LuckayLuck. Continuing with the characters, there is of course also Willi – I don’t know you that well unfortunately, but you seem like a good guy with a lot of heart and I’d be glad to get to know you better. I guess some people would also call Sun Tzu a character. Some people have gotten upset with you at times I think, but I’ve always found you to be quite a lovable character, and also, you’re from California – so, yo, Sun, we’re gonna set up a Cali meet-up, amirite? Moving away from the characters to the steady paragons of POG as a community: biggerboat comes to mind. If you took away biggerboat from POG, POG would not be POG for me. Bigger, I love your passion for POG and the community, I love your regular posts about your girlfriend and beds, and I love your quirky posting style in ww games <3. Another calming presence on POG is definitely kokiri – we haven’t talked much, but I find you to be a very reasonable and rational guy which shines through in every post that you make. You’re a voice of reason. I’m also happy to see the old-timer FCBLComish pop in now and then to play games! I’d like to end this paragraph with a special shout out to gusmahler. Now, I’ve been calling a lot of people nice and I’ve meant it, but gusmahler may be THE nicest person. Plus, he’s a fan of singing shows and Minecraft like me – we should make an American Idol Minecraft map or something! I hope that your daughter is fine by now btw <3.

Additionally, I must also compliment those people with good taste in music. Several of those already mentioned have great taste in music, but to mention new names: 72off who apparently likes Silversun Pickups, kwami42 who is a hipster soul like me, hibiscus the old school lover, SarcasticRat with love for awesome female artists or female-fronted bands such as Janis Joplin, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, sixfour who both appreciates the good ol' hip hop plus bands like Pixies, Kaiser Chiefs and Stone Roses, jonnyd and chuckleslovakian who are both fellow fans of my maybe favorite band Arcade Fire... And I'll also mention amplify here even though I already mentioned him before in this post, because he clearly has the most superior taste in music - one love brotha! I’m looking ridiculously forward to seeing Wu-Tang Clan and Jurassic 5 at Coachella and I promise you a TR .

A random non-group shoutout to Gadarene here at the end because I can see that he has been taking some heat and has just made a thread about it. I don’t know much about any of the incidents, I haven’t played too much with Gadarene and I haven’t talked with him in private either, but judging from his thread and what I recall from his other posting, at the very least he seems like a good and passionate guy, so I’m hopeful that things will work out.

Finally I'd like to give a shout out to all those friends who have either retired from POG or who are rarely active these days (afaik, I’m probably wrong on a few of these since I’m out of touch): AceRimmer, alice16, AriesRam, buckyb88, CPFB, DannyOcean_, drubell, enty, Epicurus, globetrotter, Kukraprout, LaRue05, Luckbox Inc/DustinG, LuckyDevil, m1ke, Neil S, Nez477, OrangeRake, Pyromaniac, Quadstriker, RiverFenix, The Evil Polka Man, Titanrulez, Zayana, ZeTurd, ZomgHax, Zurvan etc.

And a shout out to dmk, VoraciousReader and His Boy Elroy who have recently returned!

P.S. I am in the midst of learning the guitar and once I am better at it (in 10 years or something :P), I'll write you guys a song so you don't have to settle for cover songs anymore

Thingy, I have so much for you, sincerely.

I remember playing with you in your first game (like who is this guy who keeps posting under this weird screen name?), then how you developed yourself as a serious ww force, and were so much fun on other games like the Music Draft. Your effort in the ww database and academy cannot be overstated.

And I can't thank you enough for this post. Just reading the names and your write-ups got me choked up. Makes me feel genuinely good about coming back to POG. Please stay!

Thingyyy!!!!!

I honestly feel like you overvalue my good attributes wayyyy too much to the point where it's a bit overwhelming. It warms my heart.

I'm not in a gay mood today (odd of me!), so I won't dwell on how kind and generous you are and all of that, everybody knows too, but I will say I love you in my manliest voice, and that you can count with me for anything, anytime, forever.

My activity on POG went down ever since you "quit", it made me subconsciously sad to keep posting without you here, you are such a big part of what I love about this place.

Ask around, everyone that knows me well will be able to tell you as much.

I accepted you needed to do it, I knew it was right and necessary for you, I knew, so I didn't really try to convince you otherwise. I also knew I wouldn't lose you, POG or not.

I hope you aren't serious when you say that crap about aspiring to be as awesome as me and stuff, you are perfect just the way you are. I'm afraid you sometimes don't fully realice that.

I hope everyone sends you back but a fraction of the love you give so that you realice.

So much for not being on a gay mood xD!!
