I thought of putting 4 graves in the map and if you search, you'd find a buried character that wasn't in the game from the getgo.

At the end I just stopped developing further ideas, because just the combat values, the items and their probabilities in each location were a fairly big timesink

That was a lot of fun even though I didn't ultimately do much; other than going back to get Sting (which I feel was pretty mandatory if I wanted to succeed, since otherwise I would have been woefully underequipped), I think I went as quickly as possible to fulfill my quest, only stopping when I was poisoned and needed to heal myself, and yet I was less than half done when the game ended.

Seems like it's a lot easier for some characters to speedily fulfill their win condition than others; I would have needed at least ten more turns to have had a chance, and that's assuming everything went well when I entered the Lonely Mountains.

Still had a great time, though! Thanks for running, Gabe!

Oh, and thanks to Frog for being such a huge help in the end. Frog, you have to share the Books of Beorn with everyone.

(Thought: maybe keep the game going even after the first person finishes, as long as it's possible for someone to still succeed themselves? I know that's a lot more work, though.)

tbh all the serial killers serial killing one another super efficiently probably isn't normally going to happen, feels like that was unfortunate randing

the Apoc chat was definitely my favourite part of the game

feel the game might need a bit more reward for cooperation to set up more 'trust/betray' kinda dilemmas, it felt like betraying or fearing betrayal was a far superior plan in general

One thing I didn't care for was the game's tendeǹcy to push players away from cooperation, or at least from leaving each other alone. No doubt that is deliberate to encourage violence and speed up the game. You can't really identify yourself in an encounter because you don't know the affiliation of the other person. Since the other person is probably disposed to attack you, you need to attack in return, or use your action to defend in some form.

I dont know if the game pushes towards violence or the players do

There was plenty of avoidable death between players that weren't evil

Also Brace was a bit underused.

I think if brace were more defined, it would have been used more. If it adds to defence at the cost of attack, it is bad for you since you just keep getting attacked until you are dead. For example.

CTs shield even popped

Was hoping that he'd head North to protect me instead of inspecting his body, would have been lol

Would have been a lot of fun

I was on 3 health when I attacked Gad and figured that Frog was probably following me and wanted to bank on my poison working.

I backstabbed in the hope that Gad would flee

Another lolmoment

When me and Frog were killing Egix, Frog convinced himself that Egix was specificially Gollum

It fine if I advertise a social deduction that I'm hosting on MU here?

Brace gives you +2 defense (aka prevent 2 damage) and adds 2|2 to your own attack (aka do 3-4 more damage)

I notice Zurvan doesn't have the guts to face me after bludgeoning (?) me to death. Trolls gonna troll, I guess.

Sorry VR & Eric. Attacking VR was obviously dumb, but I had convinced myself I'd never find out the other trolls. I was heading to the troll hills, but didn't figure out it would give us info until I got there.

Then ct (Thorin) comes along and tries to finish the job, lol. Somehow I avoided any damage from his backstab, I assume, and from the result of my Flaming Pinecone response we knew who each other were and briefly teamed up. I spent the rest of the time either searching locations for Glamdring/health boosts or resting, trying to regain my health. I killed no evil, but fortunately evil ate itself. Once I got Glamdring I headed to Elronds House to see if my wincon had been met yet and to see if any evils were lurking around outside for returnees. I had pretty much decided I was attacking anyone I came across from then on. I had built my health back up to an 8. Then what do you know, I was alerted that all evil was gone with me only being one space away from Home. Lucky me.
Congrats, Mark! Haha yeah, I thought you might be a burglar or dwarf, so thought it would be good to take you out before you maybe found a better weapon or something. And my mindset was suppose to be maniac anyway. I was shocked to find out that you were Gandalf.

ETA: OK checked the spreadsheet, Whysper, Hi-- I was starting to send longer and more intimate notes but then you died.
Hi Luckbox. I loved the messages you were sending! That was the most disappointing part of dying since I was looking forward to receiving those throughout the game.

I was thinking it might be better to explore near the starting area where I assumed burglars would start. Wanted to take 1 or 2 out before they got better stuff.

Actually that sounds like a good idea. Especially since certain wincons have the potential to be done very quickly if lucky while others pretty much have a minimum number of turns to even go to the location and return.
