I have a 7 letter T word, but it won't get it in one try
I have a 12 letter P word that should get it immediately, but don't want to skip a card
I have a 9 letter C word that is strong as well, but that's also a skip so not for this first clue

Yes, they say six-pack and merry-go-round are allowed in the rules so hyphens are allowed

I would say include the hyphen in the letter count

A five-letter G word likely won’t get us there, but could set up a 7-letter C word nicely. But Nich’s T word leading to P is likely statistically better.

lol Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a band that kind of rocks. They play mostly Christmas music with electric guitars and such, and they're pretty awesome. I saw them about 5 years ago and it was pretty epic.

9 letter C word could be conductor

No clue on a 7 letter T word, but like you said, "Train" would be an obvious fit. Or "Track" even.
