If you don't mind playing somebody who made 2-4 tactical mistakes, and posted a wrong table 3+ ****ing times, during his last game, we can give it a go.

I don't care about the role either. Rand it?

Additional disclaimer: I'll hopefully go to bed in an hour. The game might not start before tomorrow.

random.org says that you are Mr. X

if we can get someone to rand our starting spots real quick, we can try to get to the first reveal tonight

First reveal tonight is a little ambitious. But if a good Samaritan gives us a quick rand it can happen.

I am ready for another game

In 100% of my games, Mr. X has lost.

I propose the 4 detective setup with 5 starting spots.
Mr. X has one starting spot, 2 double moves and 4 black tickets.

Yeah sure. I can't promise the best availability over the coming days, but it should be good enough.

You have make very clear you disrespect my game, so I will play someone else and not waste your time.

If the game is balanced, then we assume each side has 50% equity. You repeatedly take small (or large) and completely unnecessary risks for rather small gains, and those risks add up. If you make a handful of 10-20% risk moves in a game, then you've used up your entire equity right there, and made it impossible to be a wining player in the long run. Here, you'd made it to the second reveal with both double moves intact, and pretty good freedom of movement. Your equity was huge.

Yet, for some reason, you choose to give your opponent immediate equity. You could have made safe moves, giving him zero immediate equity, and used your two double moves in conjunction with the next two reveals in order to keep him from being able to pin you down anywhere. Then he is stuck guessing at where you are most likely to be, and usually guessing wrong. But instead of just protecting your equity, you go for the homerun. And this has resulted in you losing repeatedly in silly situations.

I didn't spend a lot of time looking at the current situation in this game, but your opponent caught you on a metro station where you'd revealed just a couple turns prior. The metro station is obviously a spot that he wants protected, and he knows that you're right there. Even if he doesn't expect you to go to the metro station, it's the one spot on the board that he knows is closest to all of your possible locations. And he at least has to stay within one move of it, or otherwise he's giving you risk-free access to it. You have to expect him to be going there a large percentage of the time.

And this was apparently the second time in this game that you made a hugely risky move to get to a metro station when your opponent knew you were right by it. Is it really worth it to take such a huge risk if you're going to feel the need to take the same risk again just a few turns later? You take a huge risk early in the game, it pays off, and then your comment after the fact is that it didn't even leave you in a very good situation.

It seems like each time Gabe loses he has some explanation of why the other person shouldn't have played that move, but it seems to overlook the bigger picture in which the strategy of the detectives is to mix things up enough to not be too predictable, even if it means sacrificing long-term position in favor of taking a shot at the immediate win.

And quite frankly, given Gabe's reputation at this point for constantly making risky moves, it seems stupid to play for the long game against him. He always lets himself get caught before you get there.

I can rand if needed. So rand roles, 5 of the new stops for detectives and 1 for Mr. X?

I think the best way to start for a newbie is to be Mr. X in his game 1 (actually the best way is in a multiplayer game as detective, but since this is HU, I think be Mr X is the best)

TH10 can rand it and I will take care of the rest
