So the essence of this game is that Gabe starts with a bunch of men looking for Mr Black (mic). His only clues are what type of routes Mr Black takes and then he tries to narrow down position based on that? And if Gabe end up on the same square as mr black he wins?

Correct

On turn 3 and every 5th turn after that Mr. X has to reveal himself.

We have played this game with 5 detectives, but that is almost unwinnable for Mr. X. With 4 detectives it is decently balanced

ah no it is gg sorry. I was looking at the map when I said that and missed that you had actually moved further away from me in the next set of moves already. I was thinking you could move 2 to 13, 1 to 78 and I'd be in trouble and if you did 3 to 79 I was drawing super thin. Always easy when you have full info though!
