Online (app based) game where I have lots of history with most players. The player to my left is a bit of a loose cannon:

.50c/$1.00 NLH
Sb posts ($800)
Bb posts ($300)
Straddle utg ($450)
1 call ($400)
1 call ($700)
I call ($1675) with JJ
"Crazy" ($1475) raises to $450
A bunch of grumbles and some folds
I ship AI
Crazy calls with 65o
I hold

hopefully this isn't too complicated(and boring/pointless) i'll try to be clear

does this guy have to buy the button or not?

the guy who just posted the bb leaves the table. so i would have been big blind and he would have been small blind had he stayed. but he left. so now at my casino i don't get to just skip the big blind. they have us pay two big blinds, then on the next hand im otb and i pay the sb.

so for this hand i have to pay bb and guy on my left has to pay bb. but the guy on my left seat changes to my right into the sb pot. i say he has to buy the button. the dealer literally yells at me "no! it's the same thing! two big blinds!"

to you it's all the same, isn't it? one bb, one sb, then the button?

and for him, he pays one bb and then a sb on the button. it's more favorable for him to do that, but it seems nitty to have a special rule for that case.

actually i guess it's not a special case. he just has to buy it or sit out a hand.

yea it was nitty of me. i didn't want to have to pay the sb from the sb position. i wanted to pay it on my button. and i'd get an extra free hand from him buying it too.

i was shocked at the dealer's rage though. she was literally yelling in my face! i said "are you all right?" and then she realized how she over reacted, and laughed and touched my arm.

Someone posted about the button moving forward rule and I had never heard of it before recently

it's the nittiest thing and super annoying. oh my god, someone might get the button two hands in a row, even though he did nothing to deserve it. we cannot abide such unfairness.

say you play a bomb pot for 5x the usual big blind. what's the best and worst seat to be in, assuming the button will advance? you could argue button, since you're playing a big pot in the best position. but you could also argue BB, since you negate your positional disadvantage for one street, and everyone else has to ante the same amount instead of only you posting a blind bet.

the concept of the SB needs to be retired in favor of something like $X BB and $X dead post by the BB. or two BBs.

Back in online days think I lost more in sb than bb. Sb probably gets hurt the worst in this as well even with the discount. I guess being able to lead flop and squeeze some people could have value.

Why no sb? My main game did button sb and bb which I kinda prefer to three blinds at least

I played live poker for the first time in 2-2.5 years. It felt good. I'm a limit hold'em specialist, but have been known to play 1-2NL. The only game going was 1-3NL, so I put myself on the list and waited ~hour.

Nothing really interesting to say about it. I was card dead for the first hour at least. Just what I wanted, actually; I got to get a feel for the game before anything serious happened. There were about 2.5 decent players, besides myself. Two seats to my left was a LAG, with a fairly wide range, but not stupidly so. Very aggressive, but knew when to back off. Three seats to my right was another LAG, but not as much as the other guy; he seemed competent. I think I won three pots, and had maybe six playable hands (by my standards, which are tighter than others, but even loosening up wouldn't have increased the number). Final result: +$69.

I have a decent win streak going at NL: +$600, +$400, +$200, +$69.

A nice thing is that I didn't feel rusty. A not nice thing is that my usual casino doesn't seem to have a poker room any more. All the others are awkward to get to.

Fun hand yesterday at 5 - 10.

not high level strategy but wanted to share.

Villain on my direct right is tilted because an orbit ago he paid off a pot sized bet on the river when the flush got there. He said he had two pair and knew his opponent was blasting off with nothing; the guy showed 4c 2c to river a flush.

The hand immediately before the fun one below, the tilted guy wins the pot with 57 offsuit, he called a couple of decent sized bets but 4th pair was good. He makes a comment that after someone beats him with 24 suited he is playing anything better than that. the dealer says "oh so you're only folding 23 suited he says maybe and asks a couple other people if they play 23 suited.

So onto the hand, villain with about 2,500 (I cover) raises to 30 in the Cutoff, I'm on the Button with 23 suited in spades. I call for lulz and the blinds fold. Should have folded or 3 bet but like I said, not high level strategy.

Flop is 7, 3, 2 with two hearts. He bets $50, I raise to $175. He knows I don't get out of line but will play draws aggressively sometimes. He thinks for a bit and calls.

Turn is a bad card for me an offsuit seven. He checks and I check behind. River is the Queen of hearts, completing the flush and he checks and I check it back. He shows 5 7 offsuit again and I show my 23 suited and at least we all have a good laugh,

Not bad. Only improved in you both have 23 suited?

I time out folded quads vs top boat this morning. Was fairly low stakes though and think I'm up overall a decent chunk on timing or vs other people timeout

I played in a charity poker tournament last night. As you might expect, the level of play was atrocious.

The guy to my left claimed to regularly fold pocket aces pre-flop, because he never wins with them. He said "I only play them one out of ten times or so, if I'm really hitting stuff that night."

I bubbled in 4th place when my KQ all in lost to K3

My last day of work was Friday. I leave town on Tuesday or Wednesday. I went in tonight to say goodbye to some of the coworkers who I hadn't seen on Friday and I sat at a 1-2 NL table for a few hours to donk off some chips and over-tip my former coworkers.

In for $300 and I've built it up to about $450 in the first 45 minutes. One of my favorite dealers is in the box and I have QQ on the button. UTG raises to $15. 2 callers. I make it $75. UTG calls, everyone else folds. $180 in the pot and UTG has around $250 left. I have him covered. Flop is JJ6 rainbow. He checks, I bet $150, he jams, I snap call. Board runs out clean. UTG tables KJ offsuit.

Two hands later I 3-bet to $30 with AQ offsuit. The same guy who just took my chips calls. Flop is 49T rainbow. I c-bet $30. He jams. I have about $60 behind and there's around $75 in the pot. I call. J on the river gives him a straight when he tables KQ.

I rebuy for another $300 and build it back up to about $550 and cash out. Then I pull a hit & run at the blackjack table, making a quick $200, so I finished +$150 on the night.
