Hand from 5-10 tonight, I start with around $1,900 and open 66 UTG to $35. Probably a bit optimistic. Three callers including the SB with whom I have a lot of history, He is good, maybe a bit too loose and I have been owning him for the last 2 months or so. Not really outplaying him just coolering him in big spots.

The flop is 975 rainbow and the SB donks for $100. I call with third pair and a gutter, because I'm an optimist.

Turn is the 3 bringing a flush draw and giving me a double gutter. I have the 6 . The SB leads for $525 overbetting the pot. I think for a bit and shove for $1,260 more.

His line is super strong and I'd expect him to usually have a hand that will call your shove. Good players aren't donkbetting air into three players on a 975 flop, and the only plausible semi-bluffs are hands like 98 and 88 which play better as a check-call than a three barrel bluff (which is what he's setting up).

Blockers!

He called after talking to himself for a minute or so. River was K and MHWG. He flashed his cards to his neighbor and I saw that he had hearts no paint so probably T8.

So yeah blockers.

His line makes sense to me since he probably assumes I'm a bit tight even moreso at 5-10 than 2 - 5. He likely assumed I was capped at an overpair and wouldn't want to stack off with one pair.

But his flop betting range doesn't have air in it because there are two other players in the pot who will very frequently have something on this board. And on this flop there are a lot more combos of made hands (straight, set, two pair) that he can have than draws. And if he's correct about you being capped at one pair here then that's a pretty big leak on your part -- and if you actually are balanced in this spot then you don't need to worry about folding the bottom of your range. And then there's the fact that you were only a small favorite even when you did happen to catch him bluffing.

when i went to bed i was kind of thinking this hand was going to end with you winning like that

well played!

anyway, i think fold flop is clearly best but if you want to punt around a bit this is a reasonable hand to do it

Well he's wrong about me being capped or I'm wrong that he thinks I'm capped, since I opened 66 which means I have to have sets of 7s and 9s in my range. I'm also opening 67s + so I have pair plus straight draws. UTG at 5 - 10 I'm not opening 68 so I can't have the nuts on the flop.

Folding the flop is probably right. When he overheat the turn, on what I think is a great card for an overbet, I felt he was bluffing too much, with that particular sizing but in any case it puts me in a tough spot since even if I improve on the river I can still be beat.

Thinking that he has too many bluffs but having a hand that will be hard to call with on over 80% of the rivers I shoved hoping to get folds from some of his weaker hands or bluffs. Probably not a good play but it worked out.

maybe you want to tell us about stack sizes, structure, etc., .. even if you don't want to talk about the villains?

or maybe filthy's advice is universally applicable.

Chip equity question at small $20 home tournament I went to.

Down to three.

1st: $200
2nd: $106
3rd: $0

Me: ~80k in chips
Player to left: ~75k in chips
Player to right: ~55k in chips

Skill of players is probably Left > Right = Me

Also there's a high hand thing going, which I have at the moment with kings full of tens.

3 way chop for $102 each is discussed. I would get that, plus the $45 high hand.

Do it?

Try this equity deal calculator.

I think the 113, 108, 85 it gives seems reasonable.

Had one of the goat hands I've ever seen tonight, I'm not involved.

We get to the flop of 9h7d4h and guy bets 150 into 250, next guy raises to 700, first guy thinks a long time and calls, turn is 6h, first guy check next guy pots it right away for 1650, tank call again, they have like 2500 behind, River 6d, first guy goes all in, second guy more or less snap calls, first guy shows a77h8h. Next guy shows t966 no hearts.
