Teams To Consider: COLUMBUS OHIO
Another player that did well in event #52 was Scott Seiver. He had a 1st and a 2nd last year so he would have had a ticket for himself and another for a teammate. And unlike Dan Zack, Scott Seiver has plenty of teammates. Scott leads a 21 player squad.

Teams To Consider: CRANSTON RHODE ISLAND
Another excellent result in event #52 was by Anthony Zinno. He also would have won 2 tickets to the ME last longer last year. Another member of Team Cranston is Aram Zobian who finished 6th in the Main Event last year.

Teams To Consider: LAFAYETTE HILL PENNSYLVANIA
Home of Matt Glantz who would have cashed in 2 tickets to the ME last longer (including his finish in event #52). He also missed a 3rd by a whisker. However, it would have been all for naught as Matt is the entire Lafayette Hill team.

Team NOT to Consider: CHICAGO ILLINOIS
Huge team with not enough talent. The names Kassela and Grapenthien stand out. Most cashes last year were Jason Wheeler and Shiva Dudani with 7. The price will likely be very low due to the huge number of Chicago players.

Teams To Consider: WESTON WEST VIRGINIA
Home of Jason Koon. Last year he cashed in a 25K, a 50K and a 100K. All for naught because Jason is the only player on Team Weston.

Teams To Consider: PORT CHARLOTTE FLORIDA
Port Charlotte is the hometown of Jason Mercier. Is Jason going to spend most of June at home with the family or at the Rio? That's why most folks wait until May to decide on their picks.

Teams To Consider: SUNNY ISLES BEACH FLORIDA
Some folks consider Robert Mizrachi an even better player than his brother Michael. Good chance that Robert can get a few extra ME tickets to share with the other 4 players from Sunny Isles Beach.

Teams To Consider: TORRANCE CALIFORNIA
This 16 player squad had a 5 time casher last year. And two 6 time cashers (Yockey & Yoon). And an 8 time casher in Daniel Strelitz. That's pretty good quality for a 16 player team. Most dangerous would be Bryce Yockey since he can play all games.

Teams To Consider: TRINEC CZECH REPUBLIC
He was 2nd in the Main Event in 2011. He keeps coming back every year hoping for a 2nd chance. He cashed 9 times last year. Look for a big price on Martin Staszko.

Teams To Consider: TROY NEW YORK
He was in the running for Player Of The Year last year so he gave it everything he could give it. The result: 14 cashes. This year?

Teams To Consider: LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA
So who is this Michael McKenna anyway? WSOP.com has a Michael McKenna and a Michael Mckenna. Hendon mob says they're one and the same. Does he date back to 2005 or is he a brand new player whose 4 cashes last year were his only 4. If he cashes in 2019, we'll just have to accept what wsop.com says. Interesting thing about Long Beach is that of their 20 players, 10 cashed multiple times last year.

Teams To Consider: BIRMINGHAM (UK or ALABAMA)
The UK team has 8 players with a 6 time casher (Yiannis Liperis) and a 7 time casher (Stuart Rutter). The Alabama team has a 7 time casher (Shannon Shorr, pictured) who finished 39th in the Main Event last year. We won't mention the Birmingham Michigan team. Probably the UK team is better but if the Alabama team has a better price?

Well, here we are in April and this thread gets a lot of views (over 2000) but not a lot of entries (the only entries so far are from my homegame!). As tradition dictates I'll put in my entry before I leave for Europe on the 11th. While I'm away there won't be much sense entering since I won't have access to PokerStars or to the odds calculator or the quickpick generator. However, you can enter in person at the World Amateurs in Vienna or the EPT Monte Carlo (euro equivalent accepted) if you are there. This pool should start in earnest on May 7th when I return.

Joe Cada going back-to-back? Don't think I'll be putting a $1 on it. However, be my guest.

Wait, I’m confused. So we’re not doing salary cap format where we pick the specific 10 players we want anymore due to research that fit under the budget? Now it’s some weird thing where we are going by city of origin? I dunno I was all about the previous format. This doesn’t sound nearly as fun personally

Teams To Consider: SOSNOWIEC POLAND
Grzegorz Wyraz cashed 9 times last year including the Main Event. Not just a NLH player as he cashed in razz in both 2017 and 2018. But, not a high stakes player. Long price only.

The one advantage of going by towns is now you have backup (in most cases). In case Phil Ivey (or some other "name" player) doesn't show up you still have the rest of his teammates playing for you. And instead of how much he costs, this year you'll be keeping a watch on how much he pays. If Riverside (Phil Ivey) is paying $235 is that a good deal? $285? etc. However, you do have a point: a lot of people will be used to the old way of doing it so may be reluctant to go with something new.
The fun part is the scoring. Gone is the secret formulas from a 3rd party. Now just watch as your players gather their tickets to the Main Event last longer. Then watch the Main Event and cheer your picks on. Much simpler so more fun.

Teams NOT to Consider: WASHINGTON DC
A 22 player squad led by Jim Collopy. However, Norman Chad did not cash in 2018 so he didn't even make the team. Without Chad I'm not putting a plug nickel on this team (sarcasm, feel free to pick Washington, even without Norm)!

Teams To Consider: COCONUT CREEK FLORIDA
There are 10 players on this team. 7 of them had multiple cashes in 2018. Jerry Wong leads the way with 3 top-10 finishes in 10Ks last year. In 2016, he was 8th in the Main Event.

Teams To Consider: LEMONT ILLINOIS
Arturas Astrauskas cashed in the Main Event but it's his teammate Scott Bohlman who really stands out. His 11 cashes would have created 4 Main Event last longer entries. Too bad this team doesn't have more players.

Teams To Consider: CORAL SPRINGS FLORIDA
Randy Ohel is another player that would have earned 3 passes to the ME last longer in 2018. And Randy does have teammates to share the wealth with. Coral Springs is sending a 10 player squad.

Teams To Consider: TAMPA FLORIDA
The best player on this squad is John Racener. However, Tampa has a lot of players so that could drive the price down. Check for a good price.

Well, it's here! The first of the "pickyerown" entries. This is my 20.
I decided to just let the computer pick the 20 (but not random!). Here's what I told the computer look for:
A) a team with high quality players - players who play the 10Ks not the Giant or Colossus
B) non-flop players preferred - because the last longer of the PPC is the fallback in case nobody selected the ME last longer
C) at least 10 cashes
So, what I got were a bunch of mid-size teams with quality players (except for Philadelphia). Some of these I hadn't even considered. I had to go and look them up to see who I got.
Also, it didn't take into account how much a player was likely to play - so I got Obst and Deeb (I have my fingers crossed).

My 20th pick is also interesting. If I was picking without the computer's help I would have taken Southampton (Benny Glaser and Toby Lewis) over Birmingham. Oh well, we'll see how that works out.
