There are a lot of sporting fails, which is partly why one has yet to be picked.

Often they can be attributed to a bad bounce or a momentary lapse in judgement. This is not that...

Jean van de Velde (128th Open Championship)

I can't recall a more soul-crushing sporting moment than this. A 3 shot lead going into the final hole of a major championship, with the entire world watching, and he completely folds to the pressure. No teammates there to pick him up. Poor guy. (lolfrance)

The video is pretty long, but I feel it captures it better than a simple highlight reel would. Fantastic commentary too. (He lost by 3 shots in the 4-hole playoff.)

I was thinking of that. But now that the category has been opened, I’m going to grab what seems like the best (certainly the most enduring) example of sporting fail...

Bill Buckner (1986 World Series)

Full writeup to come.

A starfish is technically an animal right?

I'll go with Patrick Star for funny cartoon animal.

To be fair I haven't watched many of the new spongebob episodes, mainly re-watch the old ones for nostalgia reasons but the old ones are the best anyway

Some highlights of Patrick at his best:

Just awesome

Even the "Great One" needed a sidekick.

Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton

For evil company, I'll take Nestle.

There's way too many reasons to list for why this company is terrible, but when you have your own top 10 scandal list dedicated to you, you know there's some serious issues.

For platonic duo, I'll take Mulder and Scully. Yes, they end up in a romantic relationship at some point, but I don't think that should really matter for the purpose of this category.

If that's a problem, let me know and I'll pick something else.

Good pick. Mrs. Drummin and I are rewatching The X-Files currently.

Sure, I’ll allow it and judge on their pre-romantic relationship

In general I’m not looking for duos that ever hook up tho as I’m looking for non-sexual-tension chemistry so try to stay away in future picks

I don't know why any picks are not allowed. If you pick bad then it's reflected in your rank just like a walrus.

Pick as vague/specific/left field as you want and let the chips land where they may.

I honestly toyed with van de velde with the 2nd overall pick. But I think I have a good pick for the sport fail category

Midnight Run is an awesome movie, but a risky choice given some of the stuff still on the table.

After Godfather, everything else that isn't bad is about the same.
