I really butchered that game with the yoyo clue...you did well to get us out of it.

I knew it was a stretch, but I thought I could try to shoehorn helicopter in there, because then I had a plan to finish in 3. My thinking was:

- helicopter is a yoyo trick
- a yoyo helicopter is a thing
- yoyos spin like helicopters
- yoyos go up and down like helicopters

Basically I was hoping you would pick up on any of those things and get there from lack of other options. I knew switch and watch were danger words, but they were both neutral, so I thought I could risk it. I didn't see tower or oil as possibilities, my bad.

Yeah...in hindsight I should've just said balloons 2 and played it safer, but all's well that ends well.

I was worried about you saying fighter at the end, but had to hope you realised that fighter was the other warring word, which you did. All the other clues I could come up with had blockers that hadn't been clued for, so they seemed much riskier.

btw i didn't think helicopter had blue equity (back at the refinery clue) and was trying to level

Haha, well played. I just figured there was no point recluing for the other yoyo words because fair and helicopter were the only other possibilities you mentioned. Tower was the assassin, so I had to go into damage control after your post.

Warring -3

This was given in a haze at about 5 AM local. I'd considered various war clues, and at some point I decided vet was too big of a risk, but somehow I became obsessed with avoiding helicopter and forgot about vet

Anyway, it was supposed to be Berlin, France, Fighter. Warring seemed like it avoided helicopter, but vet is reasonable to say.

Fry - unlimited

Was actually only for cook and oil. I didn't want to go for it, 5 seemed impossible for them. I guess it goes with France also? I probably try not to clue France with fry.

I couldn't give a number, because I didn't know where you were at with warring. I needed to give you a chance to miss one before our theoretical next turn. This may have been a tactical error.

Killer - What did you think the warring words were? I'm sure I'm missing something very obvious but I feel like I'm operating at about 40% capacity due to lack of sleep.

Anyway, I thought we had a decent chance of getting 4-5 and then having one more turn. I didn't anticipate you eliminating all the warring words before getting to fighter.

I was thinking of row more in the sense of a dispute. Fits warring decently well imo. The problem lies in the other person seeing that connection, which might not happen. Then you may just make things worse, like I did with yoyo.

Not sure if there's a good word to connect them all while also avoiding vet...possibly not.

I also thought of row in terms of an argument, but that is essentially never used in US English. Could be easily missed.

I think if you’d used something a lot more specific for the warring clue it does much better... Maginot if you can get there (even has “line” which may lead to “row”)

I had Vet France Berlin Oil.

France was for French Fry.

I considered fighter for warring but once we had what I thought was 3 I moved on obv unfort. I knew helicopter was their word as well but didn't matter.
