As you may know, I am running a "Pogcathlon" where players can play as many different competitions as they want & earn points for their success in each one.

The Codenames portion of the competition will almost certainly be based on your results in 5 matches where your teammates & opponents are randed from scratch each round.

If there is interest in a different format, I will definitely take that into consideration, though.

If you are not familiar with Codenames...well...just look at half of the threads on the 1st few pages of POG. It's a fun game & works well in the forum environment.

Anyway, please sign up here for the Codenames portion of the Pogcathlon. Games will probably start in around 2 weeks.

I guess I will try to kick this one off pretty soon if it's supposed to be the next series of Codenames game.

I'll keep entries open for another week or so, & then start this up.

My current thoughts for the series of games:

* 2 v 2 tournament
* Some arbitrary # of randed preliminary matches where your partner & opponents are re-randed each time. Or maybe the whole thing is pre-randed so every game is mapped out to ensure no repeats? Will think about it/take suggestions.
* Players will be seeded based on these results & paired up with a teammate who is seeded next to them in a single elimination (but best out of 3 in each match-up) tournament.

For example, if it was going to be a 12 team tournament with 24 players advancing to the tournament phase, teams 1-4 would get a bye. Team 1 would be the #1 & #2 ranked players, Team 2 would be the #3 & #4 ranked players, & so on, so the top 8 would get a bye.

Team 5, players #9 & #10, would play against Team 12, players #23 & 24, and the winner would face Team 4. & so on.

I can explain further & draw pictures if necessary. Up for alternative format suggestions, but I think this should be fun.
