Long-List Codenames includes double the words as a normal game, & tends to take a long time because the teams are larger & more people need to get on the same page.

In order to alleviate some of those issues, this game will be even larger (every person who signs up will be on 1 of 2 teams), but each team only has 24 hours from the end of the other team's turn to give a clue & pick their answers, otherwise they are auto-skipped.

I'm not sure how many games we'll play. We'll see how it goes.

Arctic sagely advised that we should have the latest Long-List game rules in the OP (& graciously provided them at the same time), so here they are:

17 reds, 16 blues, 15 neutrals and 2 assassin words.

Note: Rule Change: There are two assassin words: If an assassin word is chosen, the opposing spymaster gets to flip an unrevealed word of their choice. If the same team chooses both assassin words, they lose the game.

NEW RULE . For these long-list games each team is permitted to pick up to 2 extra words each turn (instead of the normal 1 extra word). For example, if you get a clue of Monkey 2 you can pick up to 4 words. Monkey Unlimited, of course, would still allow you to pick until you are wrong (or you want to stop)

i would prefer not spying the first game, to be able to focus on the 2v2 tourney for a bit

Also 24h seems a bit tough. I think 36 would be better to allow people a bit if room to talk later in the game, but whatever.

I personally think that a British person spying for a bunch of North Americans makes little sense so as much as I'd like to spy I think it's +EV if someone else does.

People can have conversations ITT at any point throughout the game they feel appropriate. 24 hours is a good deadline, especially with teams this large so 1 or 2 or more people should like always be around.

xander, I know what you are saying but with so many guessers on each team I am not sure the British part matters.. U are a good spymaster...

Yeah you don’t have to get consensus; you have 24 hours to talk about it; if nobody is around then one person can make the decision; the more people is just to help if people make time to be around

I think 24 hours is fine. If the deadline is close, whoever is around (almost always someone is) can make a decision.

Good with spying or guessing. Xander I don't think you should worry about the time difference too much, there will be much discussion and jm3 or the other spymaster can reveal results

Not thinking about the time difference, I'm thinking about the fact that British English and North American English are different things and stuff might get lost in translation.

I've nothing against being spy master but I just think it's not +EV

Other people have said they'd happily do it and so I say that we pick one of them.
