Basics:
I'll post a spectrum board that has a category on the left and a category on the right. The clue giver will then post a word or phrase (very few limits here, get creative) that they think best represents a target location on the spectrum. Their team will then debate in the thread until they all agree. In case they can't get to a timely agreement, then we'll say you should bold your vote in the thread and I'll take the majority number. If a tie, then we'll average (mean) the tied numbers and round to the nearest integer and that'll be their official guess.

The other team will then discuss and agree on 'higher' or 'lower' as where they think the target area is compared to what the guessing team chose. Same bolding strategy with randing if a tie.

The clue giver or mod then reveals the target and points are assigned.

Points:
Guessing team hits the target exactly: 5 points
Guessing team is 1 higher or 1 lower than target: 3 points
Guessing team is 2 higher or 2 lower than target: 1 point
Other team is correct on higher/lower: 1 point for them

We'll then switch which team gives a clue and play again.

The spectrum target can be anywhere from 1-27, so yes that means if it's at the extreme then there are only 3 segments that score for you instead of 5, but it's also easier (in theory) to clue to one extreme or the other.

So if the guessing team is dead on the other team has no opportunity for a point, correct? You can't say that you think they're dead on, only that the real target is left/right?

OK, I'm going to "get creative" and play around with the no restrictions thing without really breaking the game. I think we should test the limits.

I think the hard rules should be no using the dichotomy words and nothing that directly indicates the relative distance between them. Clue incoming.

My song is Amazing Grace

This song is being played at the funeral of someone who died at age 90 after a mostly healthy hand happy life. The funeral is well attended. He will be missed.

However, for the last two months of his life he was suffering from a disease, and many in attendance felt his death was a release from this suffering.

New question: is research allowed by either cluers and/or guessers? If Carl had just said "amazing grace" would his team be allowed to go listen to the song?

same as nails. Based on the story I would have gone midpoint, but amazing grace is never happy.

Not sure what to make of the "storytelling" in the clue. Is that the way the game is normally played?

So one 8-11, two 10-12 so 10 and 11 both favourites atm

Release from suffering = strong

Alternatively, we can just do Codenames rules and once someone on a team bolds it, that is binding...that is probably better actually

After this guessing team is done, we’ll move to first bolded answer is binding

So Team Right, whenever one of you bolds higher or lower, that will be locked in

Team Left, you need to bold still since we can’t change it during your turn
