and it's likely that as the show went on, it was more and more talentless d and d who were creating the story, rather than george rr martin. so it's like martin was creating the story in the beginning when it was great, and d and d were creating it in the end when it was terrible(just one or so episodes that were actually "terrible" )
the point is that if something is fantastic. its fantastic regardlss of what comes after. if davinci had painted a mona lisa2, and it sucked, that wouldnt make the mona lisa less good
Again, you’re mixing it up - you’re not even keeping to your own examples. In your first example, it was D&D creating something brilliant and then stopping after five seasons. Then billionaire filthy comes along and decides he’s going to revive the series and shits out three horrible seasons.
That. Is. Not. What. Happened.
Then you move on to some ridiculous hypothetical about Da Vinci creating a sequel to a masterpiece and it being terrible. If Mona Lisa was part of a series of paintings with the same theme and all were meant to be enjoyed alongside one another, then sure.
That. Is. Not. What. Happened.
It was top-tier television and storytelling. Then it wasn’t. The show’s stature suffers from seasons 7/8 being such poor television and storytelling. That’s why it’s great, but not the greatest. If I ever rewatched the series, I wouldn’t watch the final two seasons. What other shows lauded as GOAT fit that bill? Yeah, probably none. Which is why it’s great, but not the greatest.
