Rewatching freaks and geeks and James Franco is right about basically everything. And Seth Rogen though he doesn't say much.

I just watched the first episode of Squid Game on Netflix. I think I am hooked on another Korean drama.

I was making lomein noodles one time and wanted to add a little crushed red pepper for heat. As I shook the bottle over the pan, the cap fell off and dumped half the bottle into my noodles.

I could not eat it. I tried. I scraped off as much as I possibly could, but it ended up in the trash.

In my HS Home Econ class, my group was making cinnamon muffins. The recipe said 1/2 cinnamon with no units. We assumed 1/2 cup.

What is happening in La Palma right this moment is awesome and horrendous at the same time.

A small town wiped from the face of the earth at speed of several meters per minute and no force that we possess can stop it

Imagine being given 15 minutes to collect possessions and never see your home again or anything you leave behind. What would you take?

I got on a crockpot kick for awhile and while I can't remember the specifics there were some pretty bad efforts included. Think really dry overcooked chicken that you try to cover up with some mix of cream of chicken soup, ranch powder seasoning, whatever. I still make a couple of things in the crockpot, but rarely. I've outgrown them as a cook, I think.

crockpots are amazing for:

cooking lush, creamy, amazing beans from dried ones that are far superior to anything in a can

cooking chicken thighs with carrots and celery until they are perfectly shreddable for the cat's dinner

and...sometimes soups

That's about all I use mine for.

I usually make a sausage strata for holidays. One day I had the bright idea to try making a ground beef version. It was ... vile. Good thing I just made it for myself because it hit the trash can before it was completely cooled. Awful.

My aunt was visiting a while back and she decided to make banana bread, which would have been fine but she forgot to add any flour. Banana soup anyone?

crock pots are fantastic for cooking pork shoulders
and chicken with the right ingredients

put the stuff in for 16 hours, ignore, enjoy

What we do in the shadows is really great show. I strongly recommend that.

WWDITS is a show I don't mind seeing once in a while. If I see two episodes close together, it's just too much. I really don't care for that filming style.

Edit: it's the cinematic equivalent of writing in the second person.

For anyone who remembers my Berbere Lentil recipe, I have another convert: new roommate loves it too.

Wwdits has to stew a bit after you watch and let the flavor meld

A good metaphor here. I like the flavour but not the preparation style.

I has a bread: pumpkin, with pecans.

I was thinking "Yumm! Except the mushrooms shouldn't be there."

It's...mushroom bourguignon over mashed potatoes. If it weren't for the mushrooms, it would just be braised carrots in red wine with onions, garlic, thyme, bay leaves, etc.
09-28-2021 , 06:25 PM
Yeah I was picturing it with braised beef in addition

Yep, that's exactly how I would want it. Carrots bourguignon. I thought it was rice underneath, but mashed potatoes is good, too

You say that like it’s a bad thing

I like mushrooms tho

I hurt my back and getting old sucks. I mean it's mostly ok except for the bad stuff.
