I am!

I was just reading up on cashews (because of the OOT nuts thread). I found out the cashew plant is in the poison ivy/sumac family!!!

I then read a little more and also discovered that mangos are in the same family! That the rash causing urushiol oil from poison ivy is also in the roots, bark, leaves and outside skin of the fruit of the mango plant!!!! It is NOT in the fruit itself.

Way to crush my joy with buying 50 cent mangos from Walmart.

Also, tomato, potato, aubergine, red peppers, tobacco, and deadly nightshade are all in the same family.

This attitude is why the pilgrim fathers nearly died, leading to Thanksgiving.

Did Orange County make you feel a little less liberal? The longer you stay, stronger the effect.

First WCOOP title! Pity they aren't as meaningful as previous years, but nice way to bow out from my failed poker career.

First of, I like wine.
Not any wine, but good wine. I've been planning summer vacation the last years based on where I would love to bring bottles home from.
And Italy, especially Piedmont, have been a favorite due to the relative cheap quality Barbera wines one could bring home.

A friend of mine introduced me to American wine (especially Pinot Noir), which I've been exploring for the last year - so I'm looking for recommendations.

I've been of the impression that wine from the US only was good from California - and super overpriced.

Albeit Oregon seems to be a quality marker, and some of the best American wines I have had are from there.
Especially from the the following houses: Minimus, Origin, & Omero Cellars.

My top recommendations from those wineries:
2015 Origin Pinot Noir Johan Vineyard
2016 Omero Pinot Gris Willamette Valley

And their 1968, Pinot Noir is a blast.

I don't know what a decent bottle wine is in the States, but if you got a recommendation that is possible to get in Europe, I'm all ears.

So what should I try next?

I spend roughly 1-2k$ on wine a year - mostly on bottles in the 70-150$ price range.
