i never would have read the odyssey if i didn't have to read it in 9th grade. and i actually loved talking about it every day in class. i also liked catcher in the rye. but i think every other book i had to read for a school was somewhere between a nightmare of boredom, and meh.

I know you're a fan, but we've got too much in common to let this come between us. I do feel quite strongly about it, but let's never speak about it again.

I once had a vanilla latte; the correct name should have been sugar, more sugar, touch of vanilla latte with extra sugar. It was gross. I assume all flavours are similar, and judge people who order them.

And to make matters worse, whilst I'm pretty sure she was going to die either way, I think I might have been responsible for the final stroke. Also, adding comedy to tragedy, I tried to give her mouth to mouth, so if I get pneumonia, you'll know where from.

I guess there is that. On the other hand, the same could be said of Julius Caesar and Macbeth. But, I will move it out of the "unmitigated pieces of ****" pile, and put it into the "not worth reading" pile.

Not a very popular opinion but for me 3 books i did not like at all were bible (first 50 pages), crime and punishment, notre-dame de paris.

absolutely same could be said for julius caeser and macbeth, and every other shakespeare play. shakespeare is god awful reading imo. when performed well, his plays run the gambit from terrible to good.

there probably are some plays that are good reading, but i can't think of any off the top of my head.

i remember liking death of a salesman a looooooong time ago when it was performed by dustin hoffman and john malkovich. but i was an idiot kid in the 80s. i don't know how well it holds up

RIP lamb

I'm sure you tried your best kokiri given that you were willing to give her mouth to mouth

Yeah wtf, why does it have a human eye?

GG kokiri lamb.

Lamb never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He’s not the finest animal that ever lived. But he’s a sheep, and a terrible thing has happened to him. So attention must be paid.

Reading Crime and Punishment definitely felt like punishment. And by the time I finished War and Peace I was ready to give war a chance.

Crime and Punishment and War and Peace are both amazing books.

Aiui in English the translation of crime and punishment matters a bit. I tried it once and it didn't stick. I'd like to read war and peace - I've made it about 200 pages in and was enjoying it.
09-14-2017 , 02:36 AM
which war and peace translation do you recommend?
09-14-2017 , 06:32 AM
how about the newish tv series? it has a high rating on imdb
09-14-2017 , 08:35 AM
Les Miserables probably the least enjoyable book I've tried to read. Just so goddamn tedious.
