Happy September, Pub!

A guy walks into a sept.

He pulls out a joint, and the septender says "you cannot burn green in here."

The guy says, "oh really?"

Sick burn. Title moderated. I suppose I could remoderate it if necessary.

Seems legit. I think kioshk is more interested in the Septender than the format, though.

I almost didn't enter the Pub because I thought there might be too many posts to catch up on. I was sadly mistaken.

What up POG?

I've had Fantasy Football Drafts 5 of the last 6 nights. So tonight, I celebrate with many beers (already 5+ deep).

It really frosts my Cheerios when the local grocery store stops carrying an item that I really like. It's a first world problem of the highest order but COME ON. Stop doing that.

I worked in retail Grocery for almost 19 years. I heard quite a lot of that from my customers. Just so everyone knows, that decision is not made at store level. Either the head office sees it is a slow mover and take it out of the lineup and out of the warehouse; or the manufacturer has stopped making it.

I have experienced the pain, myself. Check with Kraft or Nabisco or whatever. If it still in production, contact the customer service people at the store's head office. You probably won't get anywhere, but if we don't let them know, for sure nothing will happen.

I still want Flakes of Mackerel to come back.

Certain major retailers do still leave some shelf set decisions to store managers, or at least allow a bit of influence, depending on the category. Whether items are DSD or warehouse is a big factor as well. We've definitely had deleted items get picked back up because shoppers have asked the retailer to bring it back. But agreed that it is few and far between.

If it was discontinued by the manufacturer then yeah, you're screwed. But it looks like Frosted Cheerios are still around. Go get 'em, Booker!

Both my local HEB and my local Walmart stopped selling Red Baron's Mexican Style Pizza. ¡Ay, caramba! If you're not gonna sell that in San Antonio, where in God's name are you.

This product appears to be very store specific. It's been carried by the closest Meijer location for years (until now), while the next closest one has never to my knowledge carried it. Judging from the company's 'where to buy' webtool, it's also hit-or-miss with two other nearby grocery chains. If the site is accurate I may be able to stock up 20 miles away.

Definitely, the decision by head office could affect only some stores, in which case a good manager will try to get it for you. As filthy discovered, you can often get 10% off buying a case of some items.

I remember Flakes of Mackerel coming out in my early teens. Best. Thing. Ever. Makes a better sandwich than tuna. It was around for a year, maybe two? So disappointed when it disappeared.

Speaking of disappearing items, does anyone know if Old Tyme pancake syrup is still sold anywhere?
