I only have so much horizontal space to mount it, so 55 is about the limit. Haven’t measured yet tho.

4K seems kinda unnecessary since 90% of what I have on is sports but at the same time it doesn’t seem like a massive up charge

Get 4k, go as big as you can fit.

You won't regret it

I rebuilt my entertainment center so I could fit a larger TV. Totally worth it.

Golf is an individual sport, so you cant take too much stock in the results of a Ryder Cup (but I was glad that the Euros won, because, damn it they just have more fun .

But, if there is a critique that Tiger deserves, is that he is not (and does not appear to want to be) a leader. If people are expecting Tiger to take a young guy under his wing, that is just not going to happen. He is a cold fish and that is just his nature. It might be why people who play with him are probably more fearful of playing bad than inspired to play well. It might also explain why some of his best pairings have been with people older than him (O'Meara and Stricker, for example).

I don't dislike Tiger but my dream foursome would probably be me, my Dad, Justin Rose and Jason Day..
AK is right. We hated his dominance, and thought of him as the villain. Then he was the real villain. Now he's JAG who is trying to play well, and did.

BTW, AK, I got a picture of Jason Day with my kids at the Travelers Championship in June. It was so awesome.

And there's more to the equation than 4k vs 1080

How dark is the room?
What are the required viewing angles?
using it to play games? (i.e. need fast response time?)

Walk into Costco and look around. Costco mainly sells middle tier TV's.
I was thinking what Mark said. Bigger = Better. Costco = Heaven.

Light is well controlled, no sun issues

Viewing angles mostly straight on or within 10-15 degrees, distance 8-12 feet

No gaming

No Costco handy, could go Walmart Sams Club Best Buy Meijer Amazon

Edit: measured space, 45” wide. I have a 50 that is 46”. Could overlap some trim for another couple inches if needed

Buy the largest TV you can shoehorn into that spot. Seriously consider reworking the spot to allow a bigger TV.

If sunlight isn't a problem, LG (or Sony) OLED screens are beautiful with 100% true blacks. Go to Best Buy and Sam's and compare those to LCD/LED screens. The OLED downside is brightness in a sunny room.

When you find a TV you like, search for it on Amazon. You can usually get it cheaper and many sellers will sell it (shipped from Amazon) to you without sales tax.

Just hold the laptop screen 6 inches from your face. Voila! A big screen TV.

I thought you bought that bed last year?

Awesome. My wife and I are going to be in California from Jan to March, so I hope to attend at least one event that Day is playing...

Thanks for the TV advice, I think I've talked myself into just waiting until Black Friday or even later. I'll live with the 50/32/laptop college football combination for now. Might end up mounting the 32 in the constricted space and get something bigger with a stand. The future is wide open.

How's the hangover filthy?

We went the Wednesday Pro Am day. Quieter crowds. Better access to everything. It was my first PGA Tour experience, and I'd do it again.

It was all coincidence, since I teach a couple of towns over and it was our last day while my kids finished up the day before. They came with me, then we went to the tournament.

We’ll be heading to NZ in two weeks, potentially to look for a place to live

I bought my TV around Black Friday, two years ago. When I first got it I thought it was so huge. Now, I barely notice the size and probably wouldn't mind it being even bigger.

The TV deals start about middle of November.

NZ is the nuts.
10-07-2018 , 11:11 AM
I hear that New Zealand is a lot like Texas, but with mediocre bbq.

Sheep instead of cattle

I don't think NZ have a n-word head ranch or a day in which rattlesnakes are rounded up and burned alive either

I'm in - I'm after ~50 acres of passable grazing, ideally upland, with some fresh water source, few outbuildings. see what you can find me.
