Doesn't SF and LA have the same water source? (Sacramento Valley Aquifer)

no way, sf gets their water from hetchetchi reservoir. it's delicious, clean mountain spring water. and it's an amazing engineering feat running on just gravity. no power. but now sf is starting to mix in disgusting ground water. it's horrible!

SF water comes from Hetch Hetchy; Hetch Hetchy used to be another yosemite valley but who needs 2 yosemite valleys when you have 1. The SF water department owns land all over the place. Hetch Hetchy water tastes great.

Half of LA water comes from the Colorado river. A good bit comes from Owens Valley (see Chinatown the movie), and some from the California Aqueduct (see Pat Brown). The aqueduct sucks out of the delta so it gets snow runoff but far downstream. LA water tastes terrible.

Suburra Blood on Rome is a good show on netflix. It's just a show about modern life in Italy, but to an American it seems like a show from an alternate universe where dangerous scary gangsters drive mopeds and dress like clowns

In USA#1 we call those people Juggalos.

When the stars and idols of the previous generation died, I felt sad and longed for the days of my youth. Now the people dying are from my generation, and that really weighs me down.

I've never been a big Hip fan, but R.I.P. Gord Downie.

What's better than a book you can't put down?

A book so good that you force yourself to put it down because you don't want it to end too soon.
10-18-2017 , 02:55 PM
I've done that!!! We were reading the last Harry Potter book together as a family (a number of years ago) and would stretch it out to make it last.

I would also extend out a few video games like that.

I thought the answer was going to be beer

but I should have taken your username into consideration

There was a point in time when I was thinking of trying to cram as many poggers into my doctoral thesis/book in preparation as possible. Voracious reader is definitely in there, probably amplify, too.

Xander biscuits would be harder.

I'm not sure I've ever deliberately constrained my reading to avoid finishing, but I well know the sensation of shock when you finish a book and are no longer in its world.

that's the beauty of xander biscuits

if you google "xander biscuits" or xanderbiscuits or xander_biscuits then it's all me (try it if you'd like)

Also I can get my preferred username for everything I want to sign up for

i have definitely stopped reading to prolong the book. great/terrible feeling

same with tv shows

Well, I am reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice and I was skeptical at first, but I really love it. It's a story of a retired Sherlock Holmes who takes a brilliant teenage girl under his wing and hones her into a detective.

It's also a pleasant change. I've been reading a lot of ethics, animal rights, and political background lately, which is interesting but can be depressing. This is just a really good story, really well told.

I don't read enough, and definitely not enough stuff of quality, at the moment. I'm going to wean myself off the phone and restrict my social media activity. Life is short, and books are aplenty.
10-18-2017 , 04:13 PM
I actually have too little to do at the moment as I'm stiill jobless. I reward myself for getting stuff done (like the laundry, the grocery shopping, going for a walk, loading the dishwasher, etc) with books.
10-18-2017 , 04:13 PM
Reading is one thing i pretty much never regret. I think my peak was in 4th or 5th grade.
