In seasons, what matters is called “sell-through”. As long as a certain percentage of candy is sold through at a retailer, it’s a success. There’s trade funding provided to some customers (called markdown) that helps them sell off remaining product.
Typically with items like Whoppers and Milk Duds, we just don’t brand them for the season. That way they can go into the every day candy set afterward and we owe nothing.
