Piss off the wrong guy in Chicago and you'll go for a swim all right.

The kind with cement flippers.

How many people here know the term "Becky"?

Is it a common thing to know? I figured it was like 20% at most

Better call Becky with the good hair.

20% of who?
05-23-2018 , 10:09 AM

Which of the 2 usages are you talking about? It's evolved over the years & is kind of passe already imo.

I thought Becky just meant a white girl

There's a bit more to it in most contexts, including the stereotype of white women being more sexually lascivious than women of other colors. The term actually originated in 1847 in a Vanity Fair article, & throughout the years was used to refer to more provocative female characters, & was repopularized by Sir-Mix-A-Lot in 1992 (which is why a lot of people just think it means "a white girl").

The rapper Plies helped popularize the use of the term to refer to when a woman gives oral relations to a man in around 2009. Hence the phrases "getting Becky", "giving Becky", and similar.

White people mostly think it's a synonym for "basic" at this point, though. For example, Taylor Swift thinks she's a Becky because she likes Starbucks & Ugg boots, when actually she's a Becky because...nvm.

I’d guess it’s >20% amongst college girls and <20% amongst aging poker players.

How long have you had the third pin? Are my old school 2 pin convertors going to work?
05-23-2018 , 06:33 PM
Third pin is a ground. It's not mandatory to make things work, the top 2 pins are current.

edit:

old school US 2 prong cord, some things still come like this

your converters should work no problem. and if they don't, chicago is one of the biggest cities in the world. you'll be able to easily get a converter that does work

don't bring more than 10k US cash through customs.

also customs sometimes tries to look through your computer and phone since you're white they'll probably leave you alone.

Edit: I wonder if there is a deposit on the bags. There ought to be.
I have not seen bags of milk in Alberta, or anywhere else in Canada for awhile. Doesn't mean they don't exist somewhere, though.

Not that this is ever likely to affect me but isn't the US $10K a total of all currency and negotiable instruments? E.g. bringing US $10K and €200 with you will get the attention of customs. And is it really a problem if you properly declare it all?
05-23-2018 , 07:52 PM
I dunno about now but we used to be able to buy bags of milk in Canada Jr Minnesota. Never really understood the point.

Then again, I have a preference for milk in glass bottles when I buy milk, which is not often.

yes you're right.... except maybe for the last part. it *shouldn't* be a problem, but if you say "hey, i have 30k cash on me" they're probably gonna be all up in your ****
