You know how I vanish for months on end from time to time? That happens because I've been overdoing the internetting and can feel myself growing increasingly depressive as a result. Taking time away is healthy and I seem to enjoy it; it helps me.

I'm not saying that's true for you but it's potentially an issue that you can improve by lessening your POGging, you know? Pretty hard to hang out or meet new people when on POG, no matter how generally enriching or stimulating POG can be. Might give you some time to think about other things you feel good about or like.

Its less that the Internet is bad for you and more that a deficit of actually engrossing things in real life leads to overindulgence.

I don't want to turn the anarchist issue into something about me (annie,), but let me echo hoya to the effect that for at least some of us POG etc. can become so engrossing that it becomes more than a time sink — in my own experience, anyway, it is not always good for the mental health. It may be that those of us with depressive personalities of one sort or another, and or obsessive or addictive tendencies, are more susceptible to this.

So anarchist, I do suggest, as one institutionalizably unhappy person to another (mine was a few years ago), that you should probably discuss your POGging with your doctors. They may think it's OK, they may think it isn't, but it's pretty likely that it's relevant in some way to your mood and you're hamstringing them by not telling them.
