Hopefully you can also ban outdoor burning, lightning strikes and especially PG&E.

Make California smoke-free again!

**** yes to banning pg&e

You should just skip 4th of July and fully celebrate 14th of July.
06-16-2021 , 11:57 AM
I’m planing to celebrate June 19th with the rest of my neighborhood. There will be explosives involved. Will worry about July later, after the hangovers clear up.

I'm currently at Disneyland. No masks, no social distancing, reasonable lines. Nice.

I think Filthy would have an anxiety attack.

I went to a patio at a local brewery for an open mic comedy night.

It was packed. Pandemic is over here.

I'm sure that if filthy doesn't have his own guillotine handy to celebrate he'll know people that do.

Pretty much over here too, though we do still have a handful of really arbitrary restrictions that apply through the end of the month afaik.

I'm a little surprised that there is still a strong contingent of mask wears. Saw one dude with a n95 and another mask. I'm guessing 15% are wearing masks.

People acting like the pandemic is over when it clearly isn't are the reason the pandemic isn't over yet. Wear your goddamn mask and get vaccinated, because not everybody can do those things and might die for your convenience.
06-16-2021 , 03:55 PM
are any employees wearing masks?

State average here (pop 10 million) has dropped to under 250 cases per day. Pretty amazing when the total case count is almost 900,000.

Vaccines work.

All wear cloth masks. Many also wear goggles/face shield.

California is supposed to drop work mask requirements tomorrow or pretty soon.

We're about the same here (Ontario). About 300 cases per day, 11 million pop. We're also heavily limited until even more people get vaccinated. Just about the only thing our premier has done in the entire pandemic I like is tying the full reopening plan to vaccination rates.

Vegas pretty much all go, some worker shortages, lots of workers wearing masks, about 1 in 9 at poker tables.

How is that going? We're at 60.6% of persons 16+ having at least one dose and 45% of the population fully vaccinated iirc. Seems about average for the US.

Vermont did that too. Full reopening and end of the state of emergency was 80% of the 12+ vaccinated, which happened a few days ago.

The new cases per day has been in the single digits for the past week. Hospitalizations and ICU numbers have been practically non-existent all month.

My entire local friend group has been vaccinated and none of us have kids. We've all been extremely careful for the last 15 months. I'm going to be doing fun stuff now and not feel the least bit bad about it.

I'd have to check the numbers, about 70% with 1 dose, under 20 with two, but going up real fast

Alberta will enter stage 3 of the Summer open plan (ie all restrictions lifted) two weeks after 70% of people 12+ have had at least one dose. As of today the number is 69.4%, with 22% having received two doses.

Edmonton seems to be doing particularly well, relative to the provincial average in terms of stuff like the R value. Casinos and restaurants are open (maybe reduced capacity, distancing, etc). Poker rooms are running again, I believe, though my go to casino seems to not have one anymore.

On Monday, we should be hearing about a national plan re international (especially US) travel. As a guy who works at an airport, that cannot come soon enough.
06-16-2021 , 06:28 PM
There is even a lottery, where if you have been vaccinated you can enter a draw for a million dollars. In Alberta, I mean. They are really pushing to get vax numbers way up.

No masks. But they are kept about 10 feet away from the crowds. People take selfies with them in the background.

Right. Some of us live with someone who can’t be vaccinated. It’s literally not an option for me to stop wearing a mask while out in public.
