Thanks, filthy! I just find it hard to imagine thinking dividers alone will reduce contagion sufficiently, especially over a long period of playing time. Maybe at typical table games, but poker is more given to longer playing times, I think. Plus we all know chips are filthy (no relation) anyway, and are prime vectors for covid.

supposedly the current thinking is things like poker chips and doorknobs aren't that big of a risk. it's mostly about sharing the same air. that makes sense to me.

and yeah 8 players plus the dealer sitting at one table is still very crowded. and avg poker session is around 3 hours, with dealer changes every 40 minutes. god, those poor dealers jfc man. and according to the experts i'm reading, you don't want to be close to someone for more than 10 minutes inside. let alone be close to 8 other people for several hours, in a giant air conditioned room filled with thousands of people

Is extreme tanning back in vogue somehow? I was out and about last weekend in vacationland and saw three different caucasian women in the 18-29 age bracket who were tanned almost mahogany. Seems like you used to see that occasionally years ago but it's been a long time since skin cancer became known and a big deal.

i need to put my new license plates on my car but i don't have a screw driver. idk how people live life!!!!

maybe i'll try to use my butter knife. that is the only knife i have. and i only have that one cuz my pa bought it for me

No screwdriver? Use a butter knife. A metal butter knife. If that doesn't work, use a coin. If you don't have those, drink Don Julio, smash bottle, and use glass as a screwdriver.

When I got out of the hospital my maintenance manager came by every day and knocked on my door to make sure I didn't need my trash taken out or a lightbulb changed. He hauled off some boxes for me and even moved my sofa so I could get at a plug on the wall.

I was going to bake him something but LOL Covid. Now I don't know what to do. I wrote a nice letter about him to management. I suppose I could tip him but he was just doing it out of kindness and somehow giving him money feels icky.

Fwiw, didn't get an offer for job 3 (they said they would have to fire someone or move to a new office so bad timing).

Countered job #2 & got a fair amount more $ than they were originally offering. Start on Monday.

it seems like london alone has several accents. although i guess we have that in big cities here too, with like our upper class whities, and other cultures

I worked in a call center for 4 years and I used to be able to distinguish a ton of different accents

you refer to "a" southern accent but there's a big difference between texas, georgia, alabama, north carolina, etc.
