if you're serious it should be if it's impacting your life in a negative way, and you keep drinking even though you know the better choice is to not drink

good luck!

btw, this isn't just for alcohol, it's for any kind of behavior

It's not really impacting my life in a negative way

But do those around you think that, or maybe think that their lives are being impacted in a negative way?

However, for quick and dirty heuristics, ask yourself how many servings you consume in a day, how early in your day that you have your first, and how many times you can't remember the answers to these questions. You will have to decide what thresholds to use (or, better yet, someone close to you can do that).

Yeah, I think its really really really difficult for an alcoholic to self-diagnose.

If you're worried about it at all, go see an addiction specialist. Be honest. Therapy and recovery don't work if you aren't completely honest with the person trying to help.

A couple beers? No problem.

A case? Problem.

Well I bought it and it arrived today. It came unopened in it's original box. Brand new. A crazy good deal.

It's worth it alone to follow MLB and NFL games during church.

i was bored so decided to see if a pub still exists. I saw this post and remembered i had a $10 ebay coupon for electronics so I couldn't resist so i beat you Mark, i just ordered it for 25.99 shipped.

Question 1- Do you really need that next cruise?

Question 2- Do you really need that drink package on that next cruise?

Question 3- Do you really need to maximize that 15 drinks per day allowance on that drink package on that next cruise?

Question 4- What are the current outlooks for cryogenically freeezing oneself upon death + medical advancements in organ donation/replacement?

Not a great joke, sorry. ^

Xander, I'd see a doctor and get your liver levels tested etc right away. I don't know if you remember that last year I lost a bunch of family members all in a row? One of them was liver failure and he passed away in his early 60s. Another relative is currently experiencing the same thing, also in their 60's now.

Don't do what they did and wait until it is too late to do something about it.

Best of luck

Thanks for all the concerns, but I don't think there is any definition of the word that makes me an alcoholic. I could just have a better relationship with alcohol I guess.

Fwiw, while not an alcoholic, if you drink semi-fairly heavily I would take Xnerd's advice here. Never hurts to get a check up.

+1. I'm not really seeing a big downside to a check up.

Also, if you're asking yourself, "Am I drinking too much?", the answer is almost certainly yes.

I'm hearing good things about this "marijuana" from the young people, Xander.
06-06-2018 , 02:50 PM
Fwiw my relatives were pretty regular beer/wine people, they just had it every day, and not in huge quantities. I think it takes less than it might seem, but I'm not sure. I just know that I was surprised by it.

Xander is in 60s?

It can also be a sign of some other stress or imbalance in your life.
06-06-2018 , 06:19 PM
I'd say that stress is the issue.

Got a baby, a crazy dog and am relocating to Mid Wales (from Birmingham) in a couple of months time. It's all happened very suddenly with a job offer and very little is organised.

I've found myself drinking about 3 cans of beer every night and sometimes during the day at weekends when I'd normally have a couple of cans a couple of times a week. Last night when I had run out of beer I moved onto some Whiskey.
