I have no good options is my problem. The reason I don't want to live with my family is because my mom is a hoarder. (if you don't know what this means, watch the t.v. show)

Annie, if you;d like to talk at length about how ****ed up your family is we will read it and care.

My mum hid her valuables in the flour and under the floorboards, and then forgot.

What sort of hoarding? My aunt and uncle are hoarders, but my aunt is what I'd call a "clean" hoarder with only trinkets and other gift type items that she can't let go of, whereas my uncle hoarded out of date food, old newspapers and animals and the like.

Your parents are separated, right?

my cousin twice removed in law did this as well. We only found all her stuff under the floorboards when we completely cleaned the house after she passed away. There was like 75k worth of jewelery in the cistern

hmmm, ok. must be mixing you up with someone else

what sort of ocd do you have?
06-21-2012 , 12:52 PM
When my mom got diagnosed with cancer her room was completely hoarded out with literal garbage piled floor to ceiling with only a small dangerous path leading to the bed which was also covered in garbage.

We cleaned it up while she was in the hospital. Had to buy a new mattress & box springs & everything. She can't shop yet so it's still relatively clean.

yeah when my uncle died I and my cousins girlfriend locked everyone out the kitchen and didn't let them in until we'd cleaned it from top to bottom.

It was disgusting. So many mice.

Exercise would be the simplest. Gets you out, you don't have to talk to anyone. Then progress from there.

I have a list of things to do when you feel you have nothing to do:

Do something spontaneous
Work out if anything specific is worrying you, because if it's something easy to solve like paying a bill, doing washing up, then just do it
Be in contact with more than one group of people
Phoning your family
Dance/sing/put on a nice dress
Eat a treat
Go outside <- Big one
Do some sort of exercise, even if it's running up and down the stairs twice
Have a cup of fancy tea
Watch a TV thriller
Listen to the radio
Listen to amazing music
Look for dresses online
Eat a healthy meal
Have a bath/shower
Watch a Disney/Pixar film
Read a good book
Meditate
Talk to a real person
