This says at least as much about corporate culture as it does about the young lady. They don't want engaged, thinking human beings working for them; they want robots who look like friendly and engaged human beings. If she can't be seamlessly interchanged with another server in a different shop, city, state, or even country, then they see that as a problem.
Sorry to polemicize your humourous story, Booker, but this is a pet peeve of mine. I really did chuckle at the irony, though.
