For those who have had trouble with inserting contacts, what helped for you? I have three major problems. Smaller, more set back eyes, long upper lashes, and the optometrist said I "have the strongest blink reflex I've ever seen."

Sick of my glasses and ready to be in contacts but I am having trouble getting past the first part.

Get LASIK imo. Best thing I ever did. Going on 6 years now and no regrets.

If that's not an option, I can't help you. Never had a problem with my contacts.

Mostly about how you hold your eyes.

If you take one finger (lengthwise, not with the point) and press your top eye lashes to your face, and same for the bottom it should be physically difficult for you to blink.

After that its Getting used to shoving your finger into your eye. Which is weird, but completely painless actually. The eye lashes hold is crucial though when just learning imo.

You should use the middle finger on each hand to smother your eyelashes and pull your eye wide open. Then find the right angle of attack to get the contact in there and hold it in there for a few seconds so that it has time to settle. I usually tilt my head back a bit and look up and plant the contact below center and then slide it up/roll my eye down.

IRTM makes a good point, but I use a different approach.

Suppose I have my contact ready to go on my right index (pointer) finger. With my left middle finger coming down from above, I pin down the upper lash. I hold down the bottom lash with my right middle finger (coming from the bottom) and insert contact by extending my index finger. When the contact is on my eye ball, I blink and the process is complete.

Same process for my left. I always go right then left. That way I don't put one in the wrong eye or double up, or whatever else I can do wrong.

This is basically exactly what I do too. I just happen to use my opposite index and middle finger. Best range of motion for the hand putting in the contact. Same idea though.

And my eyes are the same strength contact so can interchange with no worry.

Eventually, you don't have to hold the upper lash up. Pulling the bottom lash down is enough.

Getting used to putting in contacts was like the most frustrating thing ever. Until all of a sudden it wasn't.

Agree that LASIK is GOAT.

No, the most frustrating thing ever was trying to open a bottle (breaking the seal) with only one hand.

1. try to place contact in eye

2. pick it up off the floor

3. wash contact

4. try again

5. punch the wall

6. go to hospital about broken hand

contact on index finger
pull down with middle finger of same hand while looking up and away (toward nose) from whichever side I'm doing
maybe tap contact once when in to remove any air
blink as needed

I just did a dry run to see exactly how I do it and was able to touch my eye with no reaction whatsoever. Maybe you should practice just touching your eye some to get used to it?

Because I stopped after step 5.

Inserting contacts is all about practice. After a week or two it will be easy.

What if you click on your stats screen in the top left. Then click on an individual stat. That should pop up some classrooms.
