Last seen in these parts on April 15.

Just watch Band of Brothers imo. Pretty amazing you've managed to avoid it for this long tbh.

For comedy, try I Think You Should Leave. It's not for everyone, but you'll likely know after the first sketch if you're gonna like it or not. There's only 12 15min episodes, so it's a short watch.

I was in LA this afternoon. I drove by a homeless "shelter" on a sidewalk that had two floors. The sleeping area was on top.

I also ate dinner in LA at Falafel Inc. Damn, that sandwich was soooo good. I bet VR would have been all over that place. Yumm!

No, I think him and amp got together, took the old I Ching for a throw, and finally saw that this is Nowheresville.

I submitted my resignation at work yesterday. I expect that all of the annoying things that bother me about being there will roll off my back for the next two weeks.

I'm taking a demotion and moving to a much, much smaller room in Colorado. I'll be driving out there in mid-September. Taking nothing with me but my clothes, my bicycle, and my dog.

wow bolt good for you!

i've been thinking of moving to miami. not that seriously. but i really miss the rain. and been kinda disenchanted with LA lately.

colorado is beautiful!

good luck!

There goes my connection to get in the pseudo private games! Will you be allowed to play at your new room?

I can probably pull a few strings to get you 3rd alternate in the good games.

I don't think I can play in the room where I'll be working, but there are 2 other rooms down the street where I can play.

Short answer: sometimes

Longer answer: Colorado only went to NL poker a few months ago, so the market is still figuring itself out. Basically there are 2 cash rooms and 1 tournament room in Black Hawk. There's a 5-10 game most weekends and it's hit or miss during the week. One room has a 500-4000 buy-in and the other room has 500-5000 buy-in. There's also a 10-25 game (1000-uncapped) that runs from time to time.

But just a few months ago, Colorado was strictly limit poker and the biggest game was a 30-60 with a half kill, so things are going to continue to evolve over the next few years. For instance, Omaha hasn't really taken hold yet, and we know that the action players are going to gravitate towards that game sooner or later.

Where you gonna live /commute from?
08-21-2021 , 02:09 PM
I found an apartment just outside of Golden (outskirts of Denver). It should be about a 25-30 minute drive through the mountains when the weather cooperates. There are places to live that would be closer to get to work, but other than the casinos they're kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Oh man, I didn't realize CO had gone to NL. I've played that 30/60 at Ameristar, I think, and loved every minute of it. I haven't been in several years. Isn't there a new, more popular room than Ameristar now?
08-21-2021 , 03:29 PM
Monarch is the new room with more games. There's also a Bally's (formerly Golden Gates), but they focus on daily tourneys and don't have more than 2 or 3 tables of 1-3 NL at any given time.

The 30-60 game still goes on weekends but I suspect it will die out.

Geez, I just got word that my gardner just died from Covid. He not only maintained my yard but was also a great friend. Last time I talked to him at the end of July he said he was going to get the Pfizer shot. Today I find out he died. We had many great conversations about politics and investing. He was a reasonably healthy 70 year old that didn't like shots.

Ugh. I'm in shock. He's the first person I actually knew that has died of the disease.

Sorry to hear about that. I've had a couple of people that were close die, with potentially another couple on the way. My business partner's parents are in pretty bad shape. Mom in the hospital, dad at home in a bad way, probably needing to be in the hospital.

Today, I definitely feel gun-shy about going out. It makes me want to wear a mask everywhere... lol Sadly, I think under current conditions masks only marginally help and just embolden people with a false sense of security.

dang mark. sorry to hear.

i don't know anyone personally who died, but i know 5 people who were friends/family of friends.

i feel pretty sure im going to catch it, going to the very crowded indoor casino all the time. and sitting in there for hours on end. i also feel pretty sure that the vaccine will protect me from getting too sick. like i keep hearing that vaccinated people just get mild cases of covid.
08-21-2021 , 07:36 PM
oh wait, i do actually know two poker players who died. but i never talked to them much. they just played at the same casino as me

I think if I was you, I would ASAP get an "unofficial" pfizer or moderna "booster". Also use an N95 or minimum a KN95 mask.

There are too many unknowns about vax'ed people at the moment.
08-21-2021 , 08:12 PM
yeah i meant to wear N95, but forgot lol. the surgical masks are so much more comfortable.

i don't think the n95 really offers that much protection, but i might as well

idk about getting another shot. i got the JNJ shot. and idk about mixing them or getting another JNJ shot. i saw one immunologist say that in her opinion the JNJ shot should be a two shot vaccine. so idk, maybe i should get another one? im really in the dark
08-21-2021 , 08:14 PM
also i know about 20 people who got covid, all before the vaccine. and all of them had mild cases and fully recovered. they were all young and healthy though. but it makes me feel better about the whole thing
