With that answer, I'm not ruling it out. If Filthy said it couldn't be him because he would never wear a swoosh, I would then believe him.

Filthy, did you go to any of the Swift concerts? You and 50,000 teenage girls all shaking it off.

i would have loved to go to a taylor swift concert! lol... but i don't like crowds... and the tickets seem overpriced

also.. i gave her a pass for having bad politics when she was a kid. but she's an adult now, and she should know better

also good catch mark... i would wear that mustache before i'd wear a swoosh

Hi filthy vermin! I'm leaving the forum effective sometime in November. I'm a pretty inconsistent poster and although i have historically played a number of pog games, I've never been a true pogger, and now I never will be : ) So just a friendly goodbye. I've always liked you all over here, and will likely never meet most of you at this point in time. So, a friendly farewell!

it's crazy that the rolling stones made good songs in the 60s, and made another good song in 2023

it's a nice connection from the past to the present

If you still have the passion for music that you did 50-odd years ago, you can still make good music.

I was skeptical, but this song is pretty good modern-ish brit-rock and still feels like the stones. A little too over-produced, but everything is these days.

how could you not be skeptical? i mean i didn't believe it was a new stones song... and im still skeptical it even is a new stones song... or that the rolling stones are even still alive and healthy! lol

do you still take long walks? did you ever do any mountaineering?

i've been obsessed with mountaineering videos on youtube lol... they are insane!!! if i was young and healthy, i might give it a try. but at my age, it's just all too difficult and uncomfortable to enjoy.

but being that high up, it's like another world. and it's just so beautiful. doing hard work in that alien, beautiful space must be incredible

it's also a weird exception to the general rule we have as a global society that people shouldn't be allowed to do things that have such a high risk of death

I walk a lot still, but pretty much completely replaced running with biking. Yeah, I've been getting more into what climbers call alpinism, which may be similar to mountaineering but not quite the same. you would enjoy single pitch rock climbing, no doubt.

Have you seen The Alpinist (film)?

filthy, that's the primary reason I do it. It's indescribable what it feels like to be in such an inhospitable terrain, barely secured to the rock, physically exhausted. I love it lol.

I was thinking about sharing earlier, and stopped, but figured i might as well now... I had a friend take a ground fall about 10 days ago while I was belaying him. Needed a technical rescue just to get down from the ledge he fell to, about 800 feet off the ground. I've been kind of ****ed up over it. He was in the hospital for a bit, broke two vertabrae. I can't help but feel guilty. I know I did everything I could, but like who am I to feel messed up over this when he is the one who got hurt? Also feel guilty that I don't have any desire whatsoever to stop climbing.

Good. Married and getting old. I understand the people who say you get old but don't feel old. Except the aches etc.

wow!! that's insane... damn... must have been traumatic af... but it sounds like you saved your friend's life, no?

in the mountaineering vids, these people are just constantly leaving each other to die on the mountains! and it's like the rule. if someone is ****ed up, you gotta just leave them and save yourself... cuz even if you don't use energy and time trying to save them, you still might die.

like dying, and leaving people to die, are just part of the hobby!

so it seems like it's pretty standard for you to continue to want to climb, even after an accident.

also, sounds like your friend got incredibly lucky to live. but im really sorry for you and your friend. damn bro....

but also, im glad you're doing that. it sounds incredible. im happy for you, and all the other people who get to do that. i'll live vicariously through you

bicycling used to be main source of transportation, from ages like 8 to 45... but i stopped after i moved to LA bleh

i was riding more than 100 miles a week for a while, and this was up and down san francisco hills

i was tripping on shrooms last night, and i did a little shadow boxing in my living room. first time i did that in like 25 years. and it felt like i wasn't in my own body. i was shocked at how my body was moving. it felt alien to me. like i was in the body of some fat, slow, old man. im a young fit athlete!!! what is this old body? it's not me!

Both of my kids are now in college. The house is quiet.

BTW, I still remember pictures you posted of your kids and a giant inflatable slide. Now that is a party! hehe

mark, what drugs have you tried?

i got this tincture from the weed dispensary. it has an eyedropper, and you drop it under your tongue. it's cheap!!!! if you have no tolerance built up, i'd guess it would cost you like 5 or 10 cents to get high, like totally wasted lol

my tolerance is building up, so it cost me like 20 cents
