it's been pretty amazing how monkey pox hasn't spread much yet outside of gay and bi men. probably won't stay that way, but we'll see.

in other news, i've never been vaccinated for polio. so cdc says i should get that asap

i went in to get it when i was 18, and they told me no. they said the vax was riskier than the disease for adults in usa. but i guess that's changed now

What's risky about the vax? Isn't the issue just that it leaves a permanent scar or something?

smallpox vaccine is the one that left a scar. I think all kids have always and still are getting the polio vaccine. Except the ones born to antivaxxers, I guess.

pretty sure that polio is a very safe vax. but they all have risks. i think a tiny number of people are gonna always have terrible reactions to various vaccines.

it was just that in the 90s the risk of polio to an adult in the usa was even tinier than the risk of the vaccine

pog doctors,

the heel on my foot feels like it has a terrible bruise, but i don't remember bruising it, and there is no visible sign of anything. it just hurts like a bruise.

I have bruises on my shins all the time I don't remember getting.

i thought booker said palantir fascists, and i thought it was a joke. i googled it. i was scared to google it, but yeah it might be that. the little pic on the mayo clinic site has the pain on the bottom of the heel. my pain is centered on the side of my heel.

For me, wearing compression socks like these for a week or two took care of it.

Just heard a podcast which talked about Timothy Carey. He was a bit if a deranged person and actor.

One story was that he was cast to be in The Godfather II and arrived on set the first day with a bakery box. He said he'd bought everyone Canollis, opened the box to reveal a gun. It contained blanks and he fired it up at the ceiling a few times. He got escorted off set by security and that's why you don't see him in The Godfather Part II
