I don't think there's any. If people want to aggressively diet for a cause that's their own decision. I think the point is to bring attention to a cause and put social pressure on certain organizations to support it. That's not to understate the impact social pressure can have, but there's no moral obligation imo

I can't say. I was in Guatemala and on my to Colombia and just had a layover in El Salvador.

But all of the people I met who had been travelling north through central America said it was great and with super friendly people.

Their murder rate is now 2.1/100k people-- which is a pip less than Canada's-- making it the safest country in the Americas.

I did notice they had portraits of Bukele and his wife at the airport. The airport itself is nice and modern and has a number of restaurants and shops with very pretty women working in them.

well, I was disappointed there were no pitchforks or guillotines.

my building is huge. it's owned by a corporate landlord. there are hundreds of apartments. but only about a dozen of us went to the meeting.

our leader was a young black woman, and she was pretty ****ing awesome, a bit long winded, but pretty ****ing awesome. I'd follow her to the gates of hell.

during our meeting an unruly group of teens broke into our swimming pool, and we chased them off.

so far, the only real thing of substance is an email campaign to our building manager, and our corporate overlords. our fearless leader wrote up a long email, with a list of our concerns. it was surprisingly professional. I think she said she writes these kinds of emails for her job.

one of our sister buildings(another luxury slum), owned by the same corporate landlord parasites, supposedly organized a tenant's union for their building. so we're trying to coordinate with them

during quarantine I did a couple of zoom home school history lessons for my niece and her buddy who's my best friend's kid. they were 10. good times

so there's this guy George Galloway, and he hates israel. and the UK govt loves Israel cuz Israel is lapdog of USA/UK empire

so I guess Galloway recently won a landslide election.. and he's like their version of a senator or something... and sunak, who is the priminister, hates Galloway. sunak said Galloway is a threat to UK democracy cuz he is divisive, but he won a landslide election. meanwhile, sunak wasn't even elected??? lol... like he was appointed? idk.. who knows how brits do things over there. they like wear wigs and **** sometimes, and are yelling at each other in parliament, and they spell parliament hella weird and ****ed up. and their rules are something like you can totally yell and scream, and everyone shouts at the top of their lungs, but if you call someone a liar that's against the rules and you get in trouble lol UK.

so then sunak says how great the UK is, and how awful Galloway is for making people doubt the greatness of the UK.... the UK that is never on the wrong side of history!!!! lol!! l,o.****ing l. like sunak is from india... the same india where 4 million people starved to death cuz UK stole their food! lol!!

Thanks for the tenants meeting update, I'm not sure anything has more potential for amazeballs than renters in luxury apartments organizing a tenants union. Get it done!

elevator 2(the one by my apartment) has been broken for months... and this is just after they repaired it, when it had been broken for almost a year!! so it's been working like one month out of the last 1.5 years.

and they sent us all an email notifying us they will be airbnbing units in our building! that's going to be a nightmare.

and when I came home last night, the key fob scanner on stairway 2 was broken, so I couldn't open the door to the stairs! so the stairs and the elevator were both broken!

people's cars have been getting broken into inside the locked garage.

and other issues. lots of crime in our neighborhood. we used to have 24 hour security, now it's only 12 hours, so people are roaming the hallways fairly often and trying to steal whatever

yes! I've thought about it! I hate San Francisco!! I've been dreaming of moving to LA for like 30 years! I finally did it in 2017. i've been living in LA ever since. and I love it here

I think my favorite place to live would be someplace with beautiful nature. I love hiking. but I can't make money in those places.

I might retire to Columbia or some such place
