Rupa wrote a book about how injustice in the world affects the food we eat and the effectiveness of certain bodily systems, which have effects on our physical health. From what I've read about it, it doesn't seem to be the work of a whack job, but yeah idk why you'd make a chart like that

Have talked to many people that I believe are genuine carriers of this kind of trauma, but also you can just go online and see tons of people trying to leverage it in a performative way. Who's to say what's genuine anymore, science aside.

I'd guess as much as it exists it comes from parents and culture so is a learned behavior and less whatever else it may be.

But if trauma is a currency then people will take advantage.

i didn't read that whole article, and genetically inherited trauma doesn't make much sense to me, but what do i know about genetics? lol

but i 100% believe in trans generational trauma, as i understand it(which might be totally different from what other people mean by this term).

for example the 60s scoop in canada, tons of indigenous kids were taken by force, and sent to boarding schools where they were abused and humiliated, and traumatized, and sometimes for their entire childhoods!

obv this ****s you up for life, so when they have kids, they don't know how to properly love and care for their children, so their children are often ****ed up too.

if you don't have a loving, stable, supportive family, and extended family, you are at a huge disadvantage.

i mean i don't see how anyone can even dispute that

now that you mention it, i vaguely remember something about studies proving animals genetically inherit some memeories/behaviors

but it makes sense in terms of evolution... like we are genetically afraid of snakes and spiders cuz our ancestors were more likely to survive and procreate if they were afraid of snakes and spiders. people who weren't afraid of them, got bit and didn't procreate as much

Exactly. And then we are just talking evolution, so the question rises of how certain things might evolve faster than others, if that is the case. I think most evolutionary research has concluded that things like natural selection take a VERY long time to express themselves. Something that can't even begin to be detected over even a few generations. I like to think about discussions like this not so much about whether that is what's happening (trauma being genetically inherited over a short time period) but whether it's possible. Dawkins' original concept of a 'meme' may be relevant here.
