so if the cops did identify themselves and were shot at, they should not have shot back because the suspects were black?

If they knocked and identified themselves then entered the apartment and the boyfriend shot at them they should be able to shoot back sure. That’s best case scenario for how it played out on the cops side. They are still guilty of killing an innocent woman and endangering other lives with stray bullets.

Is it ok if the house next to yours has police lawfully enter it, and in a gunfight a cop accidentally shoots through a window and kills someone you love?

Editing that intent isn’t as important in a shootout as the actual results of the shootout.

no it is not okay, and that is why that cop got charged with endangerment for shooting through the windows -- even though nobody died from those shots he will likely be convicted of endangerment and get 5 years

but all i am saying is the grand jury, the special prosecuter, all say that that is what likely happened. that the police had a warrant, knocked, and when they wouldnt answer came in and were immediately shot at, they shot back and taylor got shot during the shoot out

the 6 times thing is the best argument for the cops doing something wrong. im not sure what the evidence showed, but they decided it was still self defense

----

it all sucks, but if the grand jury decided this, what is the point of rioting now?
you say to reform the police, i get that. but there is no evidence that the police were wrong and had any racial motivations at all in this instance

you know... i thought police were racist, power crazed ahole murderers. but mets has convinced me otherwise. they are just good guys doing a hard job. and all the dead black people, and all my friends and family and myself who have been abused by the police for our whole lives.... well... idk, but mets has shown me the light

No one thinks these are good things, man. Come on.

That being said, violent rebellion to overcome a power system that murders citizens is going to have costs involved. It’s unfortunate and terribly sad, but it’s inevitable in our system.

If the cops were acting legally and correctly it’s more of an argument for rebellion, not less.

I don’t think they’re good things in one sense but would argue they’re necessary and effective so I’m not exactly saying they are bad.

Mets has obviously done his research. How else would he not know how to spell *Breonna*

Kentucky is a stand your ground state btw. The bf has every right to shoot his licensed firearm when his door was being plowed in during the middle of the night without knowing who is there. There’s a 911 call, no record at all of the police identifying themselves. They let Breonna die without medical aid.

Mets, you’re the nut low. I can’t believe people like you exist.

But all the people who work closely with the police said they knocked!

the grand jury disagrees, and an eyewitness says the police knocked and identified themselves

i have nothing to go on but the evidence. im not making any assumptions

They dismissed all charges against the BF. Do you think they would do that if they thought he was intentionally shooting at cops? You’re a delusional idiot.

An innocent 26 year old was killed in her home. They stole from her the most precious thing she had- her life. There is nothing, nothing that can bring her back. No amount of money or legislation or accountability that can fill that void.

You ought to be ashamed, Mets. I really have no words for you. I think you’re an irredeemable son of a b*tch.

mets, how much do you know about grand jury proceedings?

do you know they are non-adversarial (uncontested)?

do you know there are basically no rules of evidence in play?

a judge did, that's a fair point

i am not sure who you are mad at though

if the anger is that the warrant was gotten under false pretenses, that is possible, and i believe what her lawyer is looking more into

but are you mad at our jury system? a grand jury and the special prosecutor, a form attorney general, both said the evidence shows the cops were within their bounds.

i guess i do just look at things too linearly. the protests are about all of it i get it

i still dont think violence is going to bring forth the change the people want.

i do think there needs to be MUCH MORE transparency on what evidence there was and why the jury made this decision

and i do think they should release the cultural breakdown of the jury

the police department definitely needs to be investigated when reports are there was no valid reason for the warrant (the ex bf dropped a package off there 1 time?) and there needs to be transparancy with these types of things

ill leave too, this really does make me sad

i used to know a lot more about these things, i have no real knowledge of how a grand jury works.

all i am saying is they found that no charges should be brought

that could be a problem with the law
a problem with the rules for police officers
a problem with how the jurors were told to decide

or there could have been more evidence than we are being told about

i have no idea

here's how you solve the "did they knock & announce" question, on the outside

has body-cam evidence been released?

if the cops look good on camera, they would release limited footage to calm people down

if there's no footage available, you can assume the footage does not look good for them

fwiw, I consider "capital" to include anything that is used to produce something else

I don't like Birdman's definition of "capital" because, I think, his definition makes the term "investment capital" redundant, whereas I believe the term has a special relevance under my own formulation.
