That graph sucks.

I'm not defending the militarization of police here; those bars should be at or near zero. I just don't like lazy or disingenuous data presentation.

do you have a link or anything about this?

I know that pfizer/moderna/j&j are aggressively fighting for IP protection on their vaccines (which were publicly funded) and have been hostile to the global south in giving access to their vaccines. Requiring absurd collateral and/or forcing agreement to loans from the IMF etc.

What I know about the oxford vaccine was that originally oxford wanted to make their research open source and donate their IP to any pharma company that wanted to manufacture it, but then the Gates foundation got involved and pressure Oxford to sell exclusive rights to their research to astra zeneca. And the vaccine itself has since been banned in like half of Europe because it keeps killing or severely hurting people.

If there's no more demand in those areas I guess sending them up to Canada would be fine because it seems like a state by state thing that would take a bit of work to move to other states (? kind of, that makes sense in my head)
Don't quite understand your "is this a thing" question. Probably would have been more of a February thing if it means what I think. Like plenty of states here could have not vaccinated 30-50 year old it people and given vaccine to Canada or someone (theoretically).

Based on my anecdotes people not going seem to be a mix of kings lazy and not high risk, generally scared of doctors needles etc, and skeptical of vaccine to various degrees compared to their risk level.

I got the first poke and thought it was silly I had to give insurance when apparently it's free anyway, seems like it has to be a grift of some kind.

Also been hearing more stories of ppp loans being used for nonsense, though only anecdotes and definitely not proven.

I don't follow tons of stuff but fairly certain biden ran on increasing military spending. Then again 2k checks so just selectively keep some promises.

I meant police spending but I'll just leave the typo.

biden administration prosecuting a whistle blower using the espionage act. i mean the guy reported on illegal assassinations smh

Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the women-led peace group CodePink, tweeted that it's "outrageous that drone whistleblower Daniel Hale will be going to prison for exposing the drone murders by the U.S. military. Why don't the murderers go to jail? Or the ones who ok the murders? Or the ones who make the killer drones and profit from murder?"

Hale's sentencing is scheduled for July 13. He faces up to 10 years behind bars.

And that Q1 2021 ignores the fact that Donald Trump was president for like a quarter of that time. So really the bar should just be Feb-Mar.

Obviously Biden sucks on this issue, but that graph is bad.

Rep. Matt Gaetz and fellow Florida lawmakers played a creepy, competitive, “sex challenge” game while working at the statehouse ten years ago — in which participants won varying points depending on who they slept with, according to a new report.

Competitors could earn extra points for bedding a married legislator or spending the night at a college sorority house, a female GOP insider told Business Insider in the report, published Friday.

And anyone who slept with one particular conservative female politician “won the whole game regardless of points,” said the source, who spoke to Business Insider on condition of anonymity.

That woman was known as the game’s “snitch,” after the coveted flying golden ball in Quidditch, a magical sport played by young wizards in the Harry Potter book series, the source said.

Not only that it should extend multiple years. A single year graph with no y/y comparison is just lazy

Like, seriously, if Trump spent 56 million in Q1 2020, 2019, and 2018 and Biden spent 36 million in 2021, wouldnt your point hold zero water?

Great news fellow haters of all things capitalism, Comrade Yellen has gone public with the next stage of the master plan to stamp out the profitable deployment of privately owned capital.

discouraging parasitic corporations from moving into peripheral territories is imperialistic?

I thought imperialism was when corporations were incentivized to move in... ?

This falls into the category of things that could be either imperialist or anti-imperialist or both simultaneously imo. Depends entirely on how it would be implemented if it ever came to pass, which it will not.

If it's being soft-peddled now, then it can come to pass later. Yellen isn't exactly someone not cued into what is wanted. And if the G-20 wants it, then it's happening.
We are working with G-20 nations to agree to a global minimum corporate tax rate that can stop the race to the bottom,” Yellen told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in prepared remarks. “Together we can use a global minimum tax to make sure the global economy thrives based on a more level playing field in the taxation of multinational corporations, and spurs innovation, growth, and prosperity.”
Imperialists can still police capitalism.
