I need to self-medicate and since I don't have tequila I'll settle for carbs, a turbo and a sane system of government.

Or at least two out of three.

I know Trump announced he had a list of potential nominees, but did the list itself ever leak? I remember hearing a few names, like Ted Cruz and the female circuit court judge whose name I'm forgetting right at the moment, but that's it.

It would be peak 2020 for Trump to nominate Ted Cruz and have the nomination go down in flames because enough Republican senators hate Ted Cruz.

I would also take action on Amy Coney Barrett against the field given that its RBG who just passed

She’s like the Clarence Thomas to RBGs Thurgood Marshall

I think they'd hate the idea of Ted Effing Cruz being in a position to pass judgment on them more , but that's just a guess.

Late to the party but I would bet my whole roll on the seat being filled before Trump leaves office. That is a stone cold lock.

the day that will quite possibly go down as the final turning point in the decline of actual freedom and democracy in America is a great day for POG politics to die as well.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, never shy to weigh in on the controversies of the day, said she thinks "it's really dumb" for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and others to refuse to stand for the national anthem.

Of the athletes, Ginsburg said, "if they want to be stupid, there's no law that should be preventive. If they want to be arrogant, there's no law that prevents them from that. What I would do is strongly take issue with the point of view that they are expressing when they do that."

Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer joined the court's conservative majority Monday in ruling against environmentalists attempting to stop a natural gas pipeline from being built under the Appalachian Trail.

The court's 7-2 majority opinion, written by Justice Clarence Thomas, overturned a lower court ruling that would have blocked the U.S. Forest Service from issuing permit a allowing the pipeline to cross under the trail. Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a dissent, joined by Justice Elena Kagan.

cliffs: rbg said indigenous didn't have sovereignty over their land because usa genocided them out of it for over 200 years

Quote:
Justice Ginsburg's decision never overturned that finding. Instead, Justice Ginsburg held that the OIN purchase of the land did not revive its tribal sovereignty over the land because almost 200 years lapsed where the land was not under OIN control.[1] During this 200-year period, the lands came under state, county, and local jurisdiction. This meant the lands were taxable for property taxes.[1] The municipalities, the counties, and the state relied on that land's taxable revenue for 200 years.[1] Justice Ginsburg also noted that during this 200-year span, the OIN did not attempt to regain title (ownership) over the land until recently; and even then only a small portion of its original 6,000,000-acre reservation.[1] Because of this, the Court opined that 200 years was too long to be out of OIN ownership.[1] Therefore, OIN could not reassert its tribal immunity over those lands as an automatic mechanism
Quote:
Justice Stevens dissented, noting that the majority opinion did not overrule the Second Circuit's determination that the subject land was Indian Territory.[1] Justice Stevens opined that because the land is within the boundaries of its historical reservation, it was "Indian Country."[1] Therefore, the city had no jurisdiction to tax that property
