How does this law cause a problem for anyone?
I can see all sorts of potential shenanigans

The uk parliament just dropped the requirement for men to wear ties in the debating chamber.

I doubt expectations of professionalism will go away; how that is interpreted in dress might well, may already have done.

what shenanigans, luckbox?

People could basically just make a mockery of dress norms and come to work dressed however they want with no fear of recriminations

Speedos are made for men, but I don't wear them to court.

Spoiler:
or do I?

I don't think that would happen in many cases but it's easy to imagine some problem employees causing trouble.

Well what if you came dressed as a man one day, and then in womens clothes the next and mixed it up like that such that no one knew what gender you would come dressed as?

Ok who cares but if your whole point is making a mockery of the law then you've succeeded

Seems like the best thing there Pres could do would be some sort of public statement supporting generally being understand of trans. Like Nobama with gay marriage.

I think its tough because obviously you can't put a litmus test on cross dressing and try to make people prove that they are legit cross dressers, vs people just trying to piss off their bosses...
07-02-2017 , 01:23 PM
fashion is expression is communication

why do you care about proving it?

and why would the bosses be pissed?

07-02-2017 , 01:26 PM
I can't see expectations of professionalism changing, I imagine how they are expressed will continue to change. I don't see an issue.
07-02-2017 , 01:26 PM
are you inanely giggling the whole time you're cross-dressed, or ?

putting fake boobs/penis on/near people?

guess what - that's already not okay
07-02-2017 , 01:27 PM
One of my colleagues often comes to work in a kilt. The building hasn't fallen down. Yet.

I don't care. Why should i care I'm not Canadian.

Bosses would care about people making mockeries of dress codes because bosses have to enforce such things.

Monkey's point though that for it's easier to ->male generally

right?

as just another in an endless sequence of [patriarchical] repressions

man, that's a problem. maybe relaxed standards (relaxing the archetype) can yield a better result - will it yield a worse one?
07-02-2017 , 01:31 PM
why do you assume the cross-dressers will violate the dress code more often?

if anything they'll be extra careful

"is that a woman's blouse?"

"no, I own it"
